It was learned that Avianca Ecuador asks to fly to Buenos Aires…

UPDATE: 29/10/2017:

After requesting the operating permit to fly from Quito and/or Guayaquil to Buenos Aires with up to 7 times a week, the aeronautical authority of Ecuador DENIED the request in its entirety in a first instance:

Avianca Ecuador Flights Ecuador Buenos Aires

In this instance the airline does not comply with the requirements of the law, by not complying with the operation of the 70% of its authorized routes (this means that it has more routes assigned than the ones it currently flies) and also, as there are no more frequencies available in the Bilateral Agreement between Ecuador and Argentina, in which with years 2013, only has 7 weekly frequencies.

The next step for the airline would be to request a review of its assigned frequencies., and the most difficult, request a review of the bilateral agreement between the two countries. We will update…

Continue the post:

…from Quito and/or Guayaquil with up to 7 weekly frequencies, as detailed in the application:

This request comes days after Tame requested to remove the route to Buenos Aires from its operating permit, so this movement of Avianca Ecuador can come from the hand of what was requested by Tame (maybe because of the alliance they have, it is a favor?).

It should be clarified that it is just a request and does not mean that the process has been approved or that the flights will start now., but if it is a departure for a potential start of operations to Buenos Aires and thus the return of direct flights between both countries. Currently, LATAM Ecuador flies daily to Buenos Aires, but with a stopover in Lima from Quito with its Airbus A319 planes.

Other point of this request, is that Avianca Ecuador has been hiring new pilots in recent months and there is an active hiring process, so also, if everything is specified and speculating a little, it is possible that there will be an increase in the fleet to cover this new destination, which practically implies the use of 24 hours of the plane that is destined for this flight that has an estimated duration of 6 hours from Quito and 5 hours with 30 minutes from Guayaquil.

For the flights to be finalized, we should wait at least 4 months (I calculate based on other similar requests that have been given in the last time) until authorization is given by both countries and bilateral, We'll see what happens.
