This time we are going to talk about VivaColombia and its flights to Quito, which were temporarily suspended from 1 May 2017, although I initially informed that it was from the 3 of May.
UPDATE 26/07/2018:
Viva Air Colombia was authorized to maintain the suspension of its flights until the maximum 31 from December to 2018 exceptionally and for the last time, on his Bogotá route – Quito and/or Latacunga Bogotá with up to 7 weekly frequencies.

Once the period that began on 14 of July, the airline must restart operations.
UPDATE 26/03/2018:
On behalf of the Ecuadorian aeronautical authority, VivaColombia was authorized to temporarily and totally suspend its operating permit between Quito and/or Latacunga – Bogotá where I flew with until 7 weekly flights:

This temporary suspension is in effect until 13 July 2018, moment where they should resume the operation or request an extension of this suspension. As we had told HERE, The airline has the clear idea of resuming flights to Ecuador, but they are defining the advantages of flying to Quito or Latacunga.
It was learned from a very good source that the airline plans to resume its flights to Quito from July of this year. 2018. We will expand…

from this 3 of May @VivaColombiaco temporarily suspended, until January 2018, your route to #Quito from #Bogota. Route started on 11/12/2014 ✈️ pic.twitter.com/5TClUkC8vv

The suspension of this route was mainly due to the airline transferring 2 Airbus A320 aircraft to its new subsidiary Viva Air Perú, which operates in the neighboring country from 9 May of this same year and for this same reason VivaColombia found it necessary to reduce the frequency in some destinations or close other domestic ones in Colombia such as Leticia., Cartagena, Cali, Barranquilla and stopping flying direct from Bogotá to Miami and now flying from Medellín. Some of these destinations were closed before this plane transfer, but we can speculate that it goes along the same line and need.
Another imminent factor is the occupation or profitability of the routes., where Quito is included. The airline flew to the Ecuadorian capital with up to 4 weekly flights (Monday, Wednesday, friday and sunday) since december 2014, when it initially operated 3 weekly flights with a projection of gradually increasing the offer as the market responds to a new low cost concept, where VivaColombia was the first airline to operate this modality in Ecuador.
With the need to share planes with Viva Air Perú, Quito was one of the destinations to be cut, which added to fewer planes in Colombia and possibly lower occupancy due to the arrival of new competitors on the Bogotá to Quito route., ended up determining this suspension.
Now, During this week it was learned that the airline has authorized the suspension of the Bogota and/or Latacunga and/or Quito and Bogotá frequency with up to 7 weekly flights until 7 October 2017:
7 route suspension permit expires in October #Bogota #Quito from @VivaColombiaco, later must extend, cancel or return to operating route. pic.twitter.com/oyWnfYApiD

After this period, the airline must resume the route, request an extension of the temporary suspension time or cancel your operating permit. As has happened before with these temporary suspensions, The most likely thing that will happen is that it will be definitive and they will not return with their route to Quito as has happened in other cases, but new information practically ensures that they will be returning to the route, very probably, in December as Quiport reported at the time:
Before the route suspension period expires #Bogota #Quito, @VivaColombiaco request renewal on this route with 7 weekly flights ✈ pic.twitter.com/ZPkjldTiQo

This would be a clear indication of the reopening of the route, that as it was said, could happen in December, for then and since 2 months, VivaColombia has added new aircraft to its fleet and would allow it to resume some closed ones and Quito, city that was his second international destination.
