Quito Airport announces expansion plan 2017-2020

Continuing with the master plan and faced with añto increase the trápassenger fare, Quito airport announces expansion planón 2017-2020.

It should be noted, that the terminal and master plan of the airport was contemplated so that its growth would be a development in stages and under parámeters of compliance with the administration contractón and concesióairport number, currently in charge of Quiport S.A.

In this Phase, that startedó the AñO 2017, the following improvements are considered:

• Expansionón of the loading platform: INVOLVESó the constructionón of an additional parking space for aircraft, improving the capacity for the processing of imports and exports that are carried out from the Mariscal Sucre Airport.
• Expansionón of the áEquipment parking area on ramp: allows for better operationón of aero servicesáuticos. This work alsoén, was delivered at the beginning of 2018.
• Extensionópassenger terminal no.: which to growá one between one 18% and 21% of increase in the áprocess area that includes the installationón of six additional self-check-in kiosks and the increase of the área de migrationón in one 34% and customs in a 13%. The áboarding area growá on 3.200 m², allowing the increase in the capacity of departure lounges in a 19%, including a boarding gate and an additional sleeve.
• Expansionón of the commercial passenger platform, with the constructionón of 11 215 m² with an additional aircraft parking space.

The improvement and expansion planón has an investmentón of US$ 90 millions, distributed in US$ 60 million for expansion worksón y US$ 30 million for improvements.

• Growth and readjustmentón of the International VIP Lounge (delivered 2017).
• Implementationón of the áevil of tránsito: facilitates airport processes in passenger connections in transitánsito (delivered 2017).
• walker projectíace and landscaping (delivered 2017).

for himñO 2020, come trueá the delivery of the following projects:

• Reconfigurationón del Hall PúDeparture chart: will moveá the information counterón to a space with greater visibility in the center of the hall, in such a way that some stores areán relocated allowing better use of space. Spaghettién be usedán new finishes and floors to modernizeán this área.
• Reconfigurationón of the áarrival area: with a view to increasing the capacity, It is contemplated to install a sixth luggage belt in order to optimize the delivery of luggage and give greater comfort to the traveler.

SpaghettiéIt is worth emphasizing, that in the Quito airport, in parallel, spaghettiéThe new one is built  ZEDE QUITO or Special Development Zone (Special Economic Development Zone) what is known as a free zone, located south of the runway on its eastern side.

Since the inaugurationón, the Marshal Sucre has already passed through 2 expansion phasesón. The phase 1 what did I contemplateó the expansionón of the national terminal incorporating 2 new boarding sleeves and Phase 2A that involvedó the expansionón of the loading platform increasing its capacity with 2 new parking spaces for large aircraftño tipo Boeing 777F o Boeing 747F.

The growing demand for international passengers promote this new stage, what además, themselvesún demand and peak hours allowá expand the capacity of dedicated boarding gates for Sunday flightséaesthetic and international.
