El Dorado is the first airport in America to use this decontaminating paint, thanks to which travelers, visitors, and workers, They will breathe cleaner air and enjoy healthier spaces.
What's more, This technology has been recognized worldwide by organizations such as NASA and iScape, as one of the projects that will mark the environmental future in the coming years.
This initiative is added to other actions implemented in El Dorado, such as:
- OPAIN voluntarily – airport concessionaire has planted 4 thousand trees. Distributed like this: 3000 trees in the lower basin of the Bogotá River (Canoas Park), and 1000 in the Wakata Bio Park Natural Reserve.
- Fleet operation 100% electric 18 platform operating vehicles, with 6 charging points.
- Implementation of 14.300 LED luminaires, generating savings of 51% of energy, and the use of 10.400 solar panels that power the energy used at the airport.
- Taking advantage of the 80% of the waste generated and 100% of collected rainwater, treated and reused in toilets
- Treatment of wastewater discharged into the Bogotá River in optimal conditions.
- Installation of 65 free drinking water refill points, avoiding the use of more than 5,5 millions of single-use plastic bottles.
