From 2 September 2025, State Department updateá the categoriesías many applicants as you canístill be eligible for an exemptionóNonimmigrant visa interview number. All nonimmigrant visa applicants, including minors 14 años and older 79, generally requireán an in-person interview with a consular official.
Renew US visa without interview
As we have seen in the úlast time, The conditions to obtain the privilege of a visa to the United States areán changing form drástic, con más requirements and higher costs tooén. Within these modifications, the exemptionón of an interview for renewalón tenderá changes and beingá almost mandatory for everyone, except:
- Applicants classified under the síA-1 visa symbols, A-2, C-3 (except assistants, servants or personal employees of accredited officials), G-1, G-2, G-3, G-4, NATO-1 to NATO-6, the TECRO E-1;
- Diploma visa applicantsáethical or official; Applicants renewing a B-1 visa, B-2, B1/B2 with full validity or a Border Crossing Card/Foil (for Mexican citizens) within the 12 months after the expiration of the previous visa, and that they had at least 18 añat the time of broadcastón of previous visa.
To be eligible for an exemptionóinterview number based on the third point above (applicants renewing a B-1 visa, B-2, B1/B2 with full validity or a Border Crossing Card/Foil for Mexican citizens), the applicants alsoén must meet certain criteria, including:
- Request in your país of nationality or residence;
- They have never been denied a visa (unless such denialón has not been surpassed or condoned); and
- Have no apparent or potential ineligibility.
- Consular officialsún may require in-person interviews, case by case, for any reason. This replaces the Updateón of the ExemptionóNo. of Interview 18 February 2025.
In summary, to renew your visa without an interviewás meet ALL requirements:
- East ás renewing a tourist visa with full validity (10 años).
- Wreathsó less than 12 months.
- Teníat least 18 añwhen it was issuedó the visa.
- East ás requesting in your país of habitual residence.
The minors of 14 años and older 79 años ya no están exempt from interview. From 2 September 2025, dutyán introduce yourself fíphysically for an interview with a consular officer.
Visas approved before 2 September will not haveán changes, although a consular officer mayá request an interview at any time.
