The Historic Center of Bogotá is very striking and has some very interesting attractions. Museums and more museums, principally.

Although this Center is very orderly and interesting, its architecture is somewhat more modern and with marked French or European styles, unlike Quito as an example, that its architecture ranges from the baroque to the Hispanic colonial. In any case, it is full of history, of events such as bombings, kidnappings and more of the recent and controversial Colombian history.

Like all Center, It is always good to be attentive to the safety of personal belongings, but at least, Throughout the visit to Colombia there is always an atmosphere of security, there are police on practically every corner and even military, but as always you have to be careful, it never hurts, so that in that way, no one spoil your vacation.

Among its museums that we were able to visit are, the following, having stayed with the desire to know the Gold Museum, closed on public holidays, which they say is unmissable for all history and gold, gold and more gold inside.

Botero museum

The famous Colombian painter and sculptor has his own museum. Admission is completely free and you can see the main works of the artist along with other great artists such as Piccaso, Monet and others.

A must for art lovers who want to be surprised by works by international artists, thinking that to see them, you would have to travel yes or yes to Europe or a museum in New York.

Mint Museum

If you like history and of course, the coins, this is a perfect place for you. In the numismatic Collection of the Bank of the Republic you will find the evolution of the coins of Colombia and even how the ancestors in the region used gold, copper and others as a barter equivalent or coin.

This museum has no cost and at the exit do not forget to ask for your special souvenir coin, also free.

Palace of Narino

Okay, It is not a museum and its access is more than protected by a high military contingent and it is not allowed, but it is part of the walk through the Center and is required, I believe in each country always know its Government Palace. A striking construction, but modern to other government houses in the region, and it has a helipad :D.

If you pass by, you can take photos with the guards at the main entrance, but that yes, always respect the limits and indications of military personnel if you do not want them to call your attention ;).

Colombian Military Museum

We all have to visit something we like the most. I have always liked and been attracted to military themes, even more so if it is a Military Museum and surely there would also be talk of the Colombian Air Force – FAC.

In this free admission museum, They only ask for your identity card or passport for registration, You will find the entire history of the Colombian Armed Forces, from its creation to consolidation as one of the most structured and strong armed forces in the region, Regrettably, due to the internal armed conflict that this country is still experiencing.

as good #AvGeek, the best moment of this visit was in the Air Force section. This exhibition shows the main milestones of the FAC, from its first transport planes DC-3 towards the evolution to the Boeing 707, Boeing 727, Hercules until reaching the supersonic era with the powerful Mirage. Definitely a MUST visit if you like military and aviation.
