It is 19 July, new controls and inspections of electronic equipment on flights from Ecuador to the United States came into force, which applies to all airlines that have direct or connecting flights per TSA instruction (Transportation Security Administration). So are the controls on flights to the United States from Ecuador.
Now there is also restriction for the transport of powdered products.
The news about these new controls began to circulate yesterday on Avianca's official Twitter:
#TravelersUSA: We recommend showing up three hours before your flights, providing for control of electronic devices. pic.twitter.com/fgpDmpvW4p
— had (@avianca) July 19, 2017
As indicated by Avianca, the controls will be carried out in a meticulous way to all electronic equipment such as laptops, tablets and other similar, Therefore, the boarding processes will be longer and it is recommended to go to the airports with greater anticipation to be part of these controls.. Cell phones and smartphones will not be inspected.
It could also be known, that if any passenger will choose not to accept the review that is mandatory, you will be denied boarding and therefore fly, but no equipment will be confiscated or removed. The measure has been applied to 105 countries around the world.
From Ecuador, all airlines must comply with this requirement. Delta, American Airlines, United Airlines, LATAM Ecuador, JetBlue and Tame will apply these measures to all their passengers. Other airlines such as Copa and Avianca itself, will impose these controls in Panama, San Salvador, Lima and Bogota.
The DGAC recently reported that Ecuador complies with all the security requirements and standards of the TSA at the Quito and Guayaquil Airports.:

For now, only official information from Avianca has been known, pending the official communications of the aforementioned airlines, but from Ecuador neither LATAM Ecuador nor Tame have yet informed about it (check below section Official Communications with updates). I will be adding more information and announcements to the post as they come out into the public domain.
Remember that these restrictions and controls come hand in hand with stronger measures that have been implemented in 8 airports of the world, from which you are not permitted to travel with any of the aforementioned electronic equipment to any destination in the United States. The airports with this restriction to date are: Queen Alia, Cairo, Ataturk, King Abdul-Aziz, King Khalid, Mohammed V, Hamad and Dubai, while Abu Dhabi was recently lifted from this list according to the website of the TSA.
So if you travel to the United States from Ecuador, and surely very soon from any airport in South America, anticipate your arrival at the airport to go to the waiting room in time and find out from the airline about these new controls.
