Thanks to the invitation of the company Mantomain, I was able to meet exclusively, both outside and inside, the newest and most modern aircraft that operates in Ecuador and specifically in Quito, the beautiful boeing 737 MAX 8 by American, which premiered in Quito as the first destination in the region for the “MAX” model, successful in sales in the world..

Boeing's program to develop a new version of its best-selling aircraft began on 30 august 2011, completing its first flight 29 of January of 2016. After completing thousands of flight hours for certification, the boeing 737 MAX 8 entered commercial service on 16 May 2017 Malindo Air.

Of the new MAX models, Boeing has an order book for more than 4.300 planes, of which to date has delivered 74 planes to their first 23 customers all over the world and of course, American Airlines is one of them with an order of 100 aircraft and already having in its fleet the first 4.

General characteristics

The different versions of MAX are based on the well-known and successful design of the Boeing 737 of, but with changes that are mainly in the use of new and larger engines, wings with new winglets called Split Tip winglets, nose changes, landing gear and general design.

Talking about the differences also leads us to talk about the plane being 8 centimeters higher in the main train than the NG to give space to the engines, that are no longer flat-bottomed and to increase the maximum takeoff weight by at least 3.200 kilos.

    the business class seats in this 737 max is very similar to the Premium economy seats I traveled recently, was a 787. instead the business class of the 787 they were sleeper seats. What a difference.

  2. The bad thing is that in the economy cabin the seats do not recline almost at all, the internet that works with the app, Fantastic, I didn't miss the world cup. It seems to me that it offers a more stable flight, the bathrooms are small and uncomfortable but you feel the security of a new plane, not like the old and poorly maintained Copa planes or how expensive Avianca is going to the US.

  3. Another difference from the B737 NG is that the Max have the cone in the tail and round engines in their external characteristics.. Without a doubt a great plane that operates well in high & hot.

    Nicholas, Do you know if in high season the B767-300ER will operate in Quito again or would they simply increase the frequency with one more flight of the B737 Max? 8?
