Welcome to a new section of the blog where we will tell stories of Ecuadorians flying around the world and today we start with the story of María Verónica García cabin crew on American Airlines.
More and more Ecuadorian pilots, crew, mechanics, etc. who fly all over the world carrying a piece of our country in their hearts to the farthest corners of the planet and in this space we want to make their stories known, experiences and anecdotes within such a demanding and demanding industry.
let's start…
His story
I grew up in Quito, big sunlit city, surrounded by volcanoes, valleys and majestic landscapes. I remember that since I was a child I was always fascinated by admiring the mountains and I dreamed of traveling and discovering places that I found in encyclopedias., get to know different cultures and watch sunsets in distant places. My father was a military pilot and I always had a lot of admiration for him.. From him I learned to fight for my dreams.
After finishing my degree as a Graphic Designer, I moved to New York, where I worked as a manager in different industries dedicated to hospitality and customer service. My desire to work in aviation was present since I was a child and in March of 2008 I started working for American Eagle as an agent at New York LaGuardia Airport. My job required a lot of discipline., patience and attention to detail. Receiving passengers arriving from different destinations was what I enjoyed the most about my job..
At 2013 American Airlines made a call and I had the opportunity to make that long-cherished dream of flying for the largest airline in the world come true.. I can proudly say that working for American is and has been one of my greatest achievements.. The training was very rigorous and intense.. When graduation day came and my wings were attached to the uniform I was so excited and it was a moment that will stay with me forever..
time flew by, the experiences, the miles and anecdotes are many. It has been more than 10 years and have had the privilege of visiting many wonderful places, I have enjoyed the sunset in Santorini, I have contemplated the Iguazú Falls, I have visited the most beautiful museums and gardens around the world, I have tasted the best coffee in Medellín, I have walked the streets of Paris, admiring the Eiffel tower; I have seen the snowy peaks of the Andes Mountains during my flights, I have walked around Lake Como in Italy, I have visited the most charming cafeterias in Barcelona, I have known the temples in Kyoto and I have traveled Europe by train admiring the castles of Heidelberg in Germany.
My work at American has given me the opportunity to experience different cultures., learn new languages, travel to many places and have friends around the world. I have visited more than 44 countries on three continents, but I feel that I still have many more destinations to visit.
I am currently based in Miami. I invite all the people who have ever thought of practicing the profession of Flight attendant, to follow their dream as I followed mine.
