During the 2018 air traffic in the Andean Community continued to grow and reached a 8.5% more than the previous year.
Of the four member countries, Colombia recorded an increase of 10%; followed by Peru with an increase of 8,3%; in Ecuador from 6,9% and in Bolivia the increase was 0,9%.

Between January and December 2018, the air traffic international totaled 32.610 thousands of passengers, corresponding to the embarkation and disembarkation of airline passengers through the international airports of the countries that make up the Andean Community, higher in 8,5% compared to the same period of the previous year. At country level, Colombia recorded an increase of 10,0%, followed by Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia with increases of 8,3%, 6,9% and 0,9%, respectively.

During January – December 2018, Colombia mobilized the 45,8% of passengers in the Andean Community, followed by Peru with the 36,4%, Ecuador with the 13,0% and Bolivia with the 4,8%.
Supply and demand of seats
On the other hand, during january – December of 2018, the airlines that operated in the Member Countries of the Andean Community they offered 40 220 thousands of seats on its international flights to and from the world, of which occupied 32 610 one thousand, representing a load factor from 81,1%, major in 1,7 percentage points than the previous year's load factor (79,4%). Colombia and Peru were the countries with the highest employment rate in the 2018 with 82,8% and 82,0%, respectively, followed by Bolivia with the 75,5% and Ecuador with the 75,4%. It is noteworthy that, Colombia registered the highest growth in the load factor with 2,0 percentage points more than similar period of the previous year.

Seats occupied on international flights of the Andean Community, presented increases in the first seven months of the 2018, as can be seen in the following graph, later, decreases in the months of august, September and October, until recovering in the last two months of the 2018, compared to the same period of the previous year.

Intercommunity air traffic
In January – December 2018 they were transported 5 834 thousands passengers among the countries that make up the Andean Community, cipher higher in 10,5% compared to the same period of the previous year. At country level, Colombia presented the highest growth in intra-community passenger air traffic with the 13,4%, followed by Peru in 11,4%, bolivian in 6,7%, and Ecuador with the 6,1%.

It is to be noted that, intra-community air traffic represents the 17,9% of total international air passenger traffic.

The flights (landings and takeoffs) of passengers between the countries of the Andean Community presented the following behavior: Bolivia recorded an increase of 8,2% compared to the same period of the previous year, followed by Colombia, Peru and Ecuador, with increases in intra-community flights of 6,3%, 6,0% and 0,2%, respectively.

Between January and December 2018, the major airlines that made international passenger flights in the Andean Community countries were: Colombian airline Avianca with a total of 5 703 thousand passengers mobilized, followed by LATAM Peru with a traffic of 4 108 thousand passengers, Avianca Peru with a total of 2 346 thousand passengers, Avianca Ecuador recorded a traffic of 2 296 thousand passengers, Copa Airlines Colombia 2 102 thousand passengers, American Airlines 1 690 thousand passengers, the Panamanian airline Copa Airlines mobilized 1 674 thousand passengers, the Chilean company LATAM Airlines transported 1 471 thousand passengers, Aeromexico transported 799 thousand passengers, LATAM Ecuador 767 thousand passengers, the Spanish airline Iberia recorded a traffic of 759 thousand passengers, followed by US airlines JetBlue Airways with a total 620 thousand passengers and United Airlines with a record of 605 thousand passengers mobilized, KLM transported 559 thousand passengers, Air Europa 539 thousand passengers, LATAM Airlines Brazil mobilized 494 thousand passengers, Delta Airlines 471 thousand passengers, Avianca Costa Rica recorded a traffic of 458 thousand passengers, Spirit Airlines 458 thousand passengers, TAME 454 thousand passengers, Bolivian Aviation (BoA) transported 422 thousand passengers and Avianca El Salvador mobilized 400 thousand passengers.

It is to be noted that, Andean airlines Avianca of Colombia, LATAM Peru, Avianca Peru, Avianca Ecuador, Copa Airlines Colombia and Boliviana de Aviación concentrated the 52,0% of international air passenger traffic in the Andean Community.
