the american airline JetBlue will put two daily flights between New York and Guayaquil for the high season of late 2020. JetBlue press photo.

The 5 from December to 2019 JetBlue started its flights between both cities operating with its modern and brand new aircraft Airbus A321-271NX, in what is the longest flight of the airline from New York and its entire network of destinations.

Now, almost a year after the start of its flights, the airline lends itself to take a new step in its consolidation in the Ecuadorian market, will implement a second daily frequency between New York and Guayaquil during December and January as reported by the user on Twitter DCAFlyer, just as he did at the time on the route between Fort Lauderdale y Quito given the demand for this route.

Despite the complex situation in the global air market, Demand between Ecuador and the United States is on the rise and given the still unconfirmed return date of LATAM Airlines on this same route, The airline has seen the opportunity to increase 14 weekly flights on this route, that add to the 7 frequencies to Quito and 7 frequencies to Guayaquil from Fort Lauderdale.

In the order placed with the Department of Transportation – US Airline DoT specifies the following:

  • JetBlue plans to operate a second daily JFK-GYE-JFK flight between 18 from December 2020 and 4 of January of 2021. JetBlue will operate these flights using Airbus 200 Stage compliant seats 3 type A321neo. JetBlue currently operates JFK-GYE-JFK service every day of the year.

The airline has not yet started the respective procedure before the Ecuadorian authority, so the flight is subject to government approval.

Schedules

This second daily flight that is already available for sale on the airline, will operate during the following hours:

  • Flight JBU-469 takes off from New York at 10:00 pm and lands in Guayaquil at 05:00 am the next day with a duration of 7 hours.
  • Flight JBU-470 takes off from Guayaquil at 06:35 am and lands in New York at 01:12 pm, with a duration of 6 hours and 27 minutes.

Subject to approval.

  1. Excellent, that's good for our city, the only thing that doesn't block me is that being flights of more than 4 hours and in the morning (thinking of fl too) do not use planes with Mint (business), I am sure that because of the comfort they would win AA clients even.
In January I had the opportunity to travel on JetBlue and although it took several hours to return (that happens with any airline) I recommend it over any other current.
Greetings, excellent your blog Nicholas !!

    1. Thank you Israel for your comment.. What happens is that the route requires long-range aircraft and the A321neo were not equipped by Mint. The classic A321s could not operate due to autonomy or restrictions on this route.

  2. Suggestion: Regarding the flight schedule, the information is very confusing since I see typographical errors. Normally in publications they use the format 00:00-23:59 to avoid this type of error.

Excellent news and hopefully it will become something of the whole year and not only in the high season of December.
