Qantas has announced a program of events to bid farewell to its last Boeing 747 and give Australians the opportunity to say goodbye to the much-loved “Queen of the Skies”. Qantas press photo.

The airline will operate three one-hour farewell jumbo joy flights from Sydney, Canberra y Brisbane, in response to requests from employees and customers for a last chance to fly on the plane.

The final farewell flights that are on sale in the airline's reservation system for the entire public and AvGeek, but it will have spaces reserved for airline collaborators.

«These three flights will offer the last opportunity to fly on a Boeing 747 from Qantas before it leaves, with some of our frequent travelers and aviation enthusiasts as fond of airplanes as we are, having spent thousands of hours on board over the years".

Flights will go on sale at noon on Wednesday 8 July on Qantas.com and will operate on Monday 13 July from Sydney, on Wednesday 15 July from Brisbane and on Friday 17 July from Canberra. Economy fares cost $400 and a small number of business class tickets will be available for $747 with additional extras included.

Seating will be limited to maximize passenger comfort (in line with other similar flights previously operated) and with all biosecurity measures.

Flights will be operated on a cost recovery basis with profits donated to the HARS Aviation Museum in Albion Park (Wollongong) and the Qantas Founders Museum in Longreach to support their efforts to preserve and promote the legacy of the 747 for future generations. Both museums have a Qantas B747 on public display.

The last 747-400 of the fleet will depart Sydney at approximately 2 p.m. of the 22 July 2020 as flight QF7474.

Before his final departure the 22 of July, Qantas to host hangar farewell event for employees.
