I am going to tell you about the high speed tape or high speed tape that is used for minor repairs in planes more than you imagine.
Surely you have already seen the main image of this post more than once, of that mechanic who turned the world upside down by placing an adhesive tape on the edge of the engine, but let's demystify that event and clear it up.
The character in the image returned to fame with a meme for what happened to a Boeing 777 de United that grounded hundreds of these planes due to a failure, but the reality is that this tape used on airplanes is not just any adhesive, It's called speed tape and it's widely used in aviation., is also used in the Formula 1 as an example.
Speed tape or high speed tape
First you have to understand that it is not the common adhesive tape that we use in our homes to close boxes or fix electrical issues..
quite the opposite, speed tape is an aluminum composite tape that can resist wind pressure and speed of more than 600 miles per hour, temperature changes expanding or contracting, moisture and ultraviolet radiation that would simply tear through ordinary adhesive tape.
Its use is very common in the tasks of aircraft daily maintenance, where certain surface failures under the strict parameters of the manufacturer, can be temporarily fixed with speed tape until the aircraft can enter deep maintenance.
When the use of this tape is required, maintenance technicians must follow very strict parameters of the aircraft and speed tape manufacturer, in order to guarantee its use safely and in compliance with current regulations.
This tape is so advanced that each of the individual rolls (that vary in resistance) can cost from $30 up to more than $500.

Kind regards. Yes I have seen that tape that looks like aluminum, I used that tape to put names on suitcases and luggage bags., It brings back memories when my paternal grandfather and my uncles used to come from Miami, they used to put those aluminum strips around the suitcases., to avoid confusion due to the characteristic and most common color (negro) at the time of collecting your luggage at the destination airport. Now I understand the main use of those special tapes used in aviation as you just mentioned in the blog.
Thanks for your input.
