Iberia announced that it will be the first airline to launch the IATA Travel Pass program and application between Europe and Latin America.

- Fill out a registration form.
- If they meet the requirements, receive a personalized invitation from IATA to create your account in the app and link your passport.
- Book an appointment at one of the laboratories or collaborating centers to perform your COVID-19 test.
- After receiving the results of said test, IATA will confirm that clients meet all health documentary requirements at their destination..
- Finally, At the airport they will only have to show the IATA Travel Pass confirmation message “OK to travel”, which will improve your travel experience as you avoid having to carry this documentation on paper. Clients will have to provide the rest of the documentation (DAYS, passport, targeted…) to be able to travel.
What is the IATA Travel Pass?
IATA Travel Pass is a global solution that incorporates several functionalities:
- World registry of health requirements: allows passengers to find accurate information about their trip and required COVID-19 tests.
- Collaborating laboratories and test centers: allows passengers to access the list of collaborating laboratories and testing centers in their place of origin to book an appointment.
- Testing and vaccination certificates: allows collaborating laboratories and testing centers to securely share COVID-19 test and/or vaccination certificates.
- App for passengers: collects and verifies the COVID-19 test and/or vaccination certificates in a single application so that the client can show it at the airport, providing a safer and contactless experience.

Forgive my use of English (my reading Spanish is fine, my written Spanish is not).
I note that IB includes the step to Book an appointment at one of the laboratories or collaborating centers to perform your COVID-19 test. Are there labs/centers already established in Latin American destinations? It sounds great to have a Travel Pass app – but how do you actually get the test/result arranged and proven to be available to meet entry requirements (e.g. US needs <72 hours). US Airlines have completely failed to provide this – leaving it to major resorts to manage this for their high-end US tourists.
Hi Andrew, dont worry, English is fine. I totally get your point and as far I understand, the IATA Travel Pass, for now, will only work one way e.g: Madrid to Lima, not the other way.
