Airports Council International (ACI) has revealed this year's winners of the Airport Service Quality Awards (ASQ). The awards highlight the best airports in the world according to the opinion of their clients.
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a major impact on global passenger traffic in the 2020, in addition to changing the perceptions and expectations of customers about the airport experience.
Based on the new questions related to hygiene measures added to the survey questionnaire, ACI has introduced a new award: «Better hygiene measures by region». There are two inaugural winners of “Best Hygiene Measures” in Latin America and the Caribbean.
This award provides airports with a reliable method of measuring passenger response to new hygiene measures and recognizes the success of airports in responding to the intense focus on hygiene. The new category also complements ACI's Airport Sanitary Accreditation program (AHA), launched last year and have already received more than 275 airports.
Despite the challenge of collecting exit survey responses (departures) on 2020, the airports of Latin America and the Caribe managed to collect data throughout the year, and the new Hygiene category allowed airports to measure the experience of their passengers regarding safety and hygiene, crucial during this time.

The ASQ Awards are sponsored by the travel technology company Amadeus and, this year, have been granted 108 awards to 89 airports around the world.
