If they visit The Angels and they don't know what else to know, I leave you a recommendation: Visit the Original Farmers Market located in Fairfax.

I spent a few days in LA participating in the edition 2024 down IPW and as part of the activities that this important tourism fair has, It is the invitation to get to know some points of the city, and I went to the Farmers Market to learn more about its history and its different food options, which is huge.

I like to eat and who doesn't?, so it was a very interesting experience trying everything from Italian to Singaporean food, an incredible tour of the world that I highly recommend.

Los Angeles Farmers Market

Also known as Original Farmers Market, It is an icon of the city since 1934. Located in the heart of the Fairfax district, This open-air market offers a unique experience that combines the freshness of local agricultural products with cultures from around the world and the atmosphere is extremely welcoming, friendly and amazing food.

The Farmers Market was born in the middle of the Great Depression, when a group of local farmers were looking for a way to sell their products directly to consumers. Over time, the market became a popular destination for families, chefs and tourists, attracting millions of visitors each year.

Walking the halls of the Farmers Market is a sensory journey. Aromas of fresh fruits, exotic spices and freshly prepared food invade you as you discover a wide variety of products. From locally grown fruits and vegetables to artisanal meats, gourmet cheeses and organic honeys, you will find everything you need to create a delicious meal at home.

In addition to fresh produce stalls, The Farmers Market is home to a large number of restaurants offering a wide range of culinary options (and this is why I chose this tour). From California classics to international cuisine, there is something for all tastes.

Some of the notable restaurants include:

  • Singapore’s Banana Leaf
  • Patsy D’Amore’s Pizza
  • Monsieur Marcel Gourmet Market, Bistro & Seafood Market
  • Trejo's Tacos
  • Gone Bananas Bread
  • Magee’s House of Nuts
  • Kaylin and Kaylin Pickles

and many more, but these were the ones I tried.

Location and access

The Farmers Market is located in 6333 W 3rd St, The Angels, THAT 90036. Easily accessible by public transportation, with several bus and metro lines that have stops nearby. There is also parking available on site which is free consuming per 2 hours.

recommendations

  • arrive early: The market is busiest in the evenings and weekends. If you want to avoid the crowds, I recommend you arrive early in the morning.
  • Wear comfortable clothes: You are going to walk a lot, so wear comfortable shoes and clothing that protects you from the sun.
  • Carry cash: Although some stalls accept credit cards, It is always better to have cash on hand.
  • Don't forget your bag: You are going to buy many things, so bring a reusable bag to transport your purchases.
  • Enjoy the atmosphere: Take your time to explore the market, try the food and enjoy the unique atmosphere.

I recommend not sitting in just one restaurant., otherwise, order a dish from each place that interests you, This way you make sure you try the greatest number of products and countries.

Okay, so if one day they are going to The Angels and they want to do something different from the traditional such as parks or going to the beach, Here you can spend several hours walking and eating very delicious.
