Welcome to a new space dedicated to collecting historical photos of the history of Ecuadorian aviation over the years.

A few weeks ago two followers, one from Ecuador and another from the United States shared with me some unique photos that are part of the history of Ecuadorian aviation, and my focus came on with that content.

How about making a post where we can upload photos of the history of Ecuadorian aviation? The idea is to gather photos that you may have in your photo albums or in those of your grandmother or aunt where airplanes in Ecuador are seen or are protagonists in time..

It was traditional before to have a balcony at the airports of Quito and Guayaquil, for example., from which we were going to say goodbye to our relatives and the first photos were taken by film cameras and they are truly memorable memories, that I think is worth sharing.

I always think how beautiful it would have been to have a digital camera in the 60s or 70s in the airports of our countries., we would have seen incredible planes that now only remain in memory, oh well, Today we are going to review the first contributions that the followers and readers of the blog have shared.

Air France in Quito

Good morning Mr. Larenas, As I see that you are an aviation connoisseur, I send you this photo taken by me when I was a child., at the old Quito airport, back in the year 1968. I think it's a DC7 (It's really a Boeing 707). If I'm not wrong, had the route Quito-Bogotá-Pointe Pitre-Paris.

As you will see, in the background of the photo, the city is depopulated, with a big difference from today.

I hope you enjoy it.

Best regard

This photo is very special, there are few of a Boeing 707 of Air France in Quito. Notice what the northern part of the city used to look like., mostly unpopulated.

Ecuadorian Air Force and a USAF delegate in Quito

Hi Nicholas,

I found your website and thought the attached pictures would be interesting to you. They feature my late father, Col. James K. Rogers, when he was one of the USAF attaches assigned to Quito from 1974-75. He’s in the middle on the first, and second from the left in the other (with the plane).
I have many fond memories of living in Ecuador for those two years.

Take care,

And Rogers

This photo was taken in Quito, Does anyone know the military personnel in the photo?? The first from the right is the French General Colonel Drouet, who died in the Fae Saberliner accident in 1988. Colonel Galo Coronel and Major Héctor Heredia also appear.

Do you want to contribute to this “museum” of Ecuadorian aviation?? Send me your photo with as much information as possible and author to [email protected] and will be part of this space with the respective credits, as it should be.
