Air Canada announced the next phase of its fleet modernization program with the incorporation of the wide-body aircraft Airbus A350-1000.

The airline will add eight aircraft to its fleet and has the right to acquire another eight A350-1000, whose deliveries are scheduled for the second half of 2030.

Powered by the Rolls Royce XWB97 engine and made from lighter materials, It is estimated that the aircraft will offer a reduction in fuel consumption of up to 25 % compared to the previous generation, according to Airbus estimates. The A350-1000 has a potential range of approximately 9000 nautical miles.

According to Airbus, Customers will experience the quietest twin-aisle cab on the market. It is designed to be pressurized at just 1825 meters (6.000 pies) to reduce body tension, minimize jet lag and offer a noticeably more comfortable travel experience. The A350-1000 will be equipped with in-flight entertainment screens and next-generation connectivity, as well as the new cabin standard Air Canada, which will be introduced later this year.

Fleet modernization

The order for eight A350-1000s adds to the 14 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner which are expected to enter service later this year. Air Canada will also receive in the coming months the first of its 30 Airbus A321XLR. Air Canada also continues to receive deliveries of the Airbus A220, assembled in Canada, with 23 remaining aircraft on your firm order 65. Another five are expected Boeing 737 MAX, under lease, come into service in 2026.

These aircraft will enter service with Air Canada's next-generation cabin design and standards, including enhanced connectivity and in-flight entertainment.
