American Airlines announced the launch of new international routes to important destinations in Europe and Japan.

American Airlines has revealed its international network plans for the summer season of 2027. The US airline will add seven new international routes and three new destinations, significantly strengthening its global offer of transatlantic and transpacific flights.

New American Airlines routes for 2027

Brian Znotins, senior vice president of network and schedule planning at American Airlines, highlighted that this growth responds to the demand for premium experiences in key markets. All confirmed services will operate on a daily basis and tickets will be on sale from 31 of August.

New destinations on the global map

The base of operations in Philadelphia (PHL) will concentrate the incorporation of the three new cities of the network:

  • One (VIE): American Airlines to become the only US airline to serve Vienna. The service will remain extended until early January 2028 to meet the demand for European Christmas markets.
  • Port (OPO): The Portuguese city formally enters the company's global network for the first time.
  • Reykjavík (KEF): It represents the airline's return to Iceland for the first time since 2019.

Growth in New York hubs, Charlotte and Chicago

At JFK airport in New York, the airline will deploy its new Airbus A321XLR to Amsterdam (AMS) and nice (NCE), in addition to adding the fourth daily frequency to London Heathrow (LHR) and aeronauts Boeing 787-9 equipped with Flagship Suite® cabins. Together with its alliance partner British Airways, the offer between New York and London will reach up to 14 Daily flights.

For his part, Charlotte (CLT) will connect with Barcelona (BCN) from 27 May on Boeing 777-200ER aircraft. in addition, the company will advance the start of its seasonal operations from CLT to Paris (CDG) and from Miami (MY) towards Milan (MXP) for him 4 march 2027.
