The 18 May I announced on my Twitter the operating authorization for Equinoctial Air new airline in Ecuador. Since that day, the investigations to learn more about this new project began and this is what is known so far:

- In this extract it is detailed that the operation of Equinoctial will be only charter to operate to Mexico, USA, Panama, Costa Rica, Haiti, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Curacao, Aruba, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela. Of these destinations it is noted that Haiti, Jamaica and Aruba, as they do not have bilateral treaties, they are subject to study and authorization by said countries.
- The aircraft it intends to operate range from Airbus A319 and A320, Boeing 737 in several versions, ATR 42 and 72, and finally Bombardier Q400, not meaning that it will operate all aircraft, more than anything this shows that the airline is looking for aircraft among these models that are the best for the type of operation, although due to the distance of the proposed points to fly, the ATR and Q400 would be discarded, at least of course, that subsequently point to a regular domestic operation in Ecuador.
- It must be remembered that charter flights are penalized in the number of annual passengers transported by airline, by opinion issued by the CNAC on 24 march 2015 www.elcomercio.com/actualidad/aviacion-vuelos-reglas-charteres-operaciones.html. For this reason, LAC operations were severely affected and led to their temporary closure last year.. Now with this regulation in force and a new airline, it will be necessary to see if the measure will be modified or totally revoked for the benefit of this new charter operator.. Currently each airline can make a maximum of 24 charter flights per year.
- The base of operations of Equinoctial Air would be the Alternative International Airport of Latacunga, Cotopaxi.
- The initial subscribed capital of the airline is USD $800.
- It is constituted as a Limited Company with 2 investors, each with an equal distribution of 50% of actions.

The minimum capital required to set up an air transport company is Us 16.000 Dollars. the CNAC They cannot have given the concession with a capital of 800 Dollars

The strange thing is that to date 6/26/17 They don't even have a website., and amazing that with $800 of capital can create an "airline", and they do not own a single plane or plane or toy!!!!
It still raises a few questions for me., but only time will tell if they take off or remain in history as another Ecuadorian airline attempt.
