It should be noted that Conviasa has not yet initiated any process to start regular operations in this destination before the DGAC..

Venezuelan media, after the start of operations of the Venezuelan flag airline between Porlamar – Margarita Island International Airport of the Caribbean Santiago Mariño and Panama Tocúmen, They commented that during that press conference, Conviasa indicated the expansion plans they will have from this paradisiacal island.

Creating a HUB on Margarita Island, Conviasa plans to expand its operations to Lima, Buenos Aires and Guayaquil or Quito. As indicated, The order of opening of the routes would be Lima first, followed by Quito or Guayaquil and followed by Buenos Aires, where they stopped flying 3 months ago.

Although it was indicated that the airline's intention is to fly to all these destinations with its fleet of classic Embraer 190LR aircraft, of which have 15, but 5 They are stored due to lack of budget to fly them. Despite the intention to fly with these planes, their autonomy is restricted, so direct flights could only be given to Lima, Quito or Guayaquil, while for Buenos Aires, they would have to make a stopover, that possibly, given the current operation of the airline, It could be in Manaus, Brazil or directly in Lima, whatever the case and stop, They cannot be direct, since it exceeds the 2,450 autonomy nautical miles.

Conviasa flights to Ecuador

The Conviasa operation – Venezuelan Consortium of Aeronautical Industries and Air Services to Ecuador is not new. In the year 2011 a 15 August and for a short period, The airline offered flights between Caracas and Guayaquil, back then flying with the classic Boeing airplanes 737-200 «chanchitos». Too, There have been several opportunities where the airline has indicated its intention to return to Ecuador, until now, without it being concrete.

Due to the short period of operation, The airline flew from Caracas to Guayaquil at 18:30 and returning from Guayaquil at 09:00 the next day with a promotional cost of $376 Dollars. The operation was very short and only a few flights were carried out, which later, They would have been suspended due to overflight permit problems in Colombia and that was when Tame began to operate those flights on behalf of Conviasa until the 16 September of that same 2011, after the Embraer accident at the Antiguo Mariscal Sucre in Quito 190 de Tame HC-CEZ, that operation was definitively suspended.

Equally, Conviasa Embraer planes 190, They are seen quite regularly in Ecuador, mainly in Quito, where they fly on charter with delegations of the Venezuelan Government, also operating for oil companies or as a Presidential plane of Venezuela for meetings of leaders that take place in the country.

The new proposal is to fly from one or not to say, the most tourist destination in Venezuela, Margarita Island. Yes OK, details of frequencies and schedules are not known, unofficial information indicates that these could begin soon, this would be from 15 of November. Given the destiny, The airline would be looking for the transportation of tourists and alliances with travel agencies and for this same issue, It can be speculated that the frequencies would not be more than 4 weekly given the origin and population of Margarita, although the route could be fed from other airline destinations.

Despite the promptness of this possible start, In the public records of operations requests, no request from the airline to fly to Quito or Guayaquil has been found., not even on a regular basis, nor charter. Another chance, is that the airline still maintains an active and renewed operating permit from the 2015 and it has not been published.

Anyway, The quickest way that Conviasa could fly to Ecuador is under the charter modality, whose permits are generally more flexible and quicker to obtain.
