Today I will leave the line of the blog, but it is something that seems necessary to me. Speak, comment and share on aviation, who can do it? who decides what is right? can anyone do it?

In recent times, Many negative comments have emerged on the Internet about people who comment or write about aviation, mainly because these people do not have a purely aeronautical profession or orientation., but is this criticism okay and that these people talk about aeronautics?

There are many questions and several of them have different points of view depending on the person who reads them and wants to answer them..

Regrettably, and especially in Ecuador (It happens in other countries too), In the aeronautical environment there is a lot of criticism towards these people, including myself., who talk about aviation and these people, not being pilots, controllers, airline managers or directly belong to the environment, are highly criticized.

The worst of all, It's not just criticism, offenses come, mockery and even insults, for simply, talk about aviation.

It is very understandable that there are complaints or criticisms by people in the environment towards people who are not and talk about an industry that generates so many passions in people.. Definitely, Aviation is one of the mediums that generates the most passion and for the same reason, is that the people who are inside it are jealous about what is said about it and who says it..

This "zeal" generates a desire to control the information that is published and whether it is published., be criticized, but in such a globalized world, where information circulates so quickly it is naive to be able to control it.

A clear example are the latest accidents or incidents in the industry., where information is filtered from various sources, that are publicly managed as soon as they reach the Internet, but there are still people who criticize people who know something about aviation and want to share it with a different informative vision.

This different information vision, Its objective is to communicate with clearer facts to the community about what is happening in the industry., an accident or any event, since the traditional press in the vast majority of cases, will publish yellow headlines, misinformative and totally removed from the reality of the industry.

Although people in the air industry know that the traditional press is not informed and publishes erroneous information, Apparently they prefer this to people like me who have been involved in aviation in one way or another., for more than 15 years publish more accurate and real information.

I'm not a pilot, no controller, I'm not a manager, nor expert, I'm not a journalist and I don't work for any airline., But they are 15 years where for my own love of aviation I have studied and continue to learn.

My most recent studies are Master in Airport and Aeronautics Management and Direction, but I continue to improve my knowledge and research, but apart from any title that a person can achieve, The reputation earned over the years and work comes first, appearance in national and international press, invitation to international events, etc.

Yes, I have been wrong countless times (it will surely happen again) and has been part of the learning process, like all the people in the world, Who hasn't made a mistake and will continue to do so for the rest of their life??

It is sad that in an environment as small as Ecuador there is so much criticism or envy for the hard work that is done to inform the world what is happening in Ecuadorian aviation.. The example of other countries should be followed, where the person doesn't matter, profession or background, as long as it is done ethically.

For instance, In Argentina there are accounts like that of Diazpez, in the United States that of Jason Rabinowitz and in the UK that of Alex Macheras, the latter has barely 21 years without being a pilot or journalist, one more AvGeek, but highly respected in the industry.

These reference accounts, They are people who have dedicated their lives to specializing to give their countries a different vision of the industry., your opinions are respected, not criticized.

It has been thought that to give an opinion you must be an accident investigator, pilot, crew member or work at airport, but precisely all these people never talk about what happens in the industry, but they criticize those who do it and they have the right to do so. They cannot comment or write about the industry due to contracts with their respective companies., which does not justify giving less to the opinion of others.

If they cannot speak for whatever reasons, It is not fair to criticize and make fun of people who can do it, that have no ties with companies in the environment and that want to give a different vision, with knowledge acquired through professional studies or own research.

Anyone can write about aviation, the point is to do it right (or try) and with bases, rather than allowing misinformation in society on issues that can be very complex.

Society is unaware of the complexity of the industry, which generates ignorance and fear, Therefore, "overinformation" does not hurt if it is done with awareness and knowledge..

Yes, Information should always come from official channels, authorities, airports or airlines, But people need to be informed quickly and in a timely manner.. By protocols, many times they cannot do it immediately, which can lead to rumors and misinformation.

This is an informative post and I am happy to see how so many people talk behind the backs of those who talk about aviation, Which means they are doing things right., and the good, is that there are more people who appreciate and are grateful for the work that is done, than those who criticize him.

If they talk behind your back, it's because you're ahead.

  1. Information gives power to those who have it, Unfortunately, many times this power is misused so they prefer to maintain Its source. (the information) hidden. Advantageously, there are serious and transparent people like you who, based on research and years of experience, They show the public an objective and disinterested side to aviation issues.. Keep going my dear Nicolas, Your reports are valuable and always welcome.. Greetings from Seoul-Korea

    Dear Mr. Larenas
With this object, my congratulations, for your work, I have been your follower for some time and really, to all the people who had the opportunity to work in the aeronautical environment or who simply see the passion that this environment awakens, you have kept us informed and updated.
But there will always be that envy and jealousy, who talk behind the backs of the success and the work done, I personally saw, the negative comments and the envy and jealousy that exists are really evident.
The important thing is to ignore, continue and continue doing the work that you have been doing throughout all this time.
    Greetings
Of all the people who like passion. AVIATION.

  3. Nicolas , I am a recent follower of yours and I am glad to have found you. All your information is as useful as it is timely and on many occasions I share it without the intention of stealing your credit since it seems to me that it is necessary for people to be correctly informed.. I'm not a master, I'm not an airline manager, I have been a travel agent for almost 20 years and I have experienced changes and transitions of this beautiful profession that, as you mentioned,, we are passionate. We help meet goals, we dream and sell happy moments in most cases.
How not to unconditionally support aviation when it offers us a world to live in.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and best of luck. !

  4. That they carry out covid tests on the passengers and that those who test positive do not board...the tests must be done two days before the flight, thus forcing the population to take care of themselves and kits must be given on the plane. 2 wet towels after the meal and a mask for passengers when getting off the plane

  5. Excelente Post. Work during 20 years at the Cubana de Aviación airline, with countless economic difficulties, but you have to work in an airline to know the efforts that are made to get ahead. I love aviation, I trained there and worked with other airlines that had agreements with Cubana.. The gearing between your departments is so important, If you don't work like clockwork, there will be failures.

      1. Congratulations Nicolas, you need temper ,maturity and knowledge to be able to explain and make known what is happening in aeronautics in all its plans, here and there there will always be good and bad "critics" against the work one does ,You just have to move on. We are the ones who are eager to know. I reiterate my congratulations and admiration.

  6. Excellent post Nicolas, I hope you continue making these articles, which for some are informative., and for others who are a little more knowledgeable, they generate passions. I am an air dispatcher and there is no more exciting feeling than being in front of one of these flying Giants, Definitely, when you step on the burning asphalt with the smell of J-A1, you cannot even think of being in another field of work..
Unfortunately, my profession is on the rocks and part of this is thanks to the little or no control generated by the aeronautical authority., the mandate 8 does not exist… How can it be said that a flight operations technician has no job or direct relationship with the line of business of an airline?? this is replay… It would be good to read a post on the subject.
Because with my current title I could not continue growing in the industry, Motivated by my family and my desire to improve, I entered more than four years ago to study a career that does not leave aside my experience of almost 15 years in aviation, this is why I am in two more weeks graduating from Occupational Health and Safety Engineering., However, I also want to specialize in the fourth level and I feel enormously attracted to your Master's Degree., Could you give me the information from where you got it and if it has been useful to you professionally speaking?. I know that in the country there is not much scope to practice this profession., but like i said before, When you are inside you will hardly go out in search of other directions.
    Successes friend.

    Greetings Nicolas,
From my point of view, you do an excellent job, As I once mentioned, I have not seen another person who makes this type of publications in Ecuador., the sources of information you use support your work. He took 16 years in the industry and by chance a few months ago I came across one of your publications. How important would it be for your work to reach more people?. So congratulations again and good luck in your future projects.. Maybe in the future I can meet you in person..

    a cordial greeting.

    Antonio Laverde
