the american airline JetBlue announces the route between New York and Guayaquil with a daily flight on Airbus A321Neo aircraft from the 5 from December 2019.

Following a great year 2019 to José Joaquín de Olmedo Airport, where the news has not stopped coming with the arrivals of Aeromexico, More Ultra, VivaAir Colombia and JetBlue, The latter once again gives the surprise and news with a new connection to the "Main Port".

During their annual event called «all-hands» the semi airline low-cost announced its intention to start flights to Guayaquil from its focus city New York, planned to start at the end of this year 2019, with tentative date to start on Thursday 5 December or from that date onwards.

In the presentation of its new and first destinations in Europe, where London will be the gateway to the "old continent" from New York and Boston, the airline formalized the start of long-range flights with what will be its new Airbus A321Neo and Airbus A321LR (Long Range version of the A321Neo) for his first "crossing the pond".

with these aircraft, out of a total of 30 requests, of which 13 they will be the version of even greater range of the A321Neo, the airline indicated that it will fly to Guayaquil from the end of 2019 (without specifying exact date yet), but the flights, within the general strategy of the airline, they would give 7 times a week from Monday to Sunday.

The first aircraft will enter service with the airline in the coming months on domestic routes and will be the one that will inaugurate the route to Guayaquil, to join the fleet 253 aircraft in total, of which 63 son Airbus A321.

JetBlue's longest flight

Until interoceanic flights to Europe begin in 2021, the route between New York and Guayaquil will be the longest JetBlue route in operation, which will allow the airline to test the autonomy of its new aircraft and also, obtain the necessary ETOPS certification for oceanic flights greater than 6 hours.

With a distance to cover of 2.970 nautical miles, this route will also be the longest route operated by a narrow-aisle aircraft in Ecuador.

Airbus A321Neo

among many differences, the new Airbus A321Neo aircraft are characterized mainly by their lower fuel consumption combustible, reduced emission of polluting gases and mainly, a considerable increase in its autonomy that allows the opening of new markets to its users.

for this route, the Airbus A321Neo and A321LR are suitable for their new autonomy, which can fly between 4.000 and 4.100 nautical miles approximately versus 3.200 of the Airbus A321Ceo version to cover the 2.970 miles between New York and Guayaquil so the Ceo version would operate limited, but we cannot totally rule it out until the incorporation of more Neo aircraft.

We will continue updating the opening process of this new JetBlue route in Ecuador, which will be for now, the only North American airline operating from two destinations in USA towards our country.
