The airline American Airlines increases flights to Latin America reaffirming its presence in Lima, Santiago and São Paulo.

After the media and well-known "divorce" between American Airlines y LATAM Airlines, the airline announced today its plans to expand its international network with new and improved international services to strategic markets within the region in direct competition with LATAM and also to the following destinations:

  • Increased service from Miami International Airport (MY) a:
    • Lima, Peru (LI), to start the 7 of April.
    • Santiago, Chile (SCL), to start in the winter of 2020.
    • Sao Paulo, Brazil (TOWER CRANE), to start in the winter of 2020.
  • New daily service from Boston (BOS) a Londres Heathrow (LHR) from 29 of March.
  • Extended service to key European destinations, including Rome (FCO), Dublin (DUB) and Barcelona, Spain (BCN)

All new routes are subject to government approval. The flights will be available for sale from 7 October, with the exception of GRU and SCL, which will be available for sale in December.

New opportunities in Latin America

American recently held 30 years serving in Miami, and now you have even more to celebrate with the additional services to Lima, Santiago de Chile and Sao Paulo Guarulhos, ready to start next year.

Currently, the airline operates with the following number of daily flights to each of these destinations from Miami:

  • Lima: two daily flights with Boeing aircraft 767 y Boeing 757.
  • Santiago de Chile: a daily flight with Boeing aircraft 777.
  • Sao Paulo Guarulhos: two daily flights with Boeing aircraft 777.

American currently operates two daily flights to Lima from Miami, and next spring it will increase operations to three daily flights throughout the year with Boieng aircraft 757, providing more service than any other airline to one of the largest cities in South America. and next winter, the airline will implement an additional flight to the capital of Chile, Santiago, and a third flight to the largest city in Brazil, Sao Paulo, both operated with a Boeing 777-200.
