Spirit Airlines bets more on Colombia by incorporating into its network of destinations flights from Fort Lauderdale to Barranquilla and Bucaramanga.

With these new flights, Spirit Airlines becomes the airline with the most connections and flights between the United States and Colombia, with service to Bucaramanga (BGA) and Barranquilla (GARDEN) that they estimate to start from April 2020, both routes subject to government approval.

Spirit made its maiden flight to Colombia in May of 2008, connecting Fort Lauderdale (FLL) with Cartagena (CTG). The expansion of the airline continued during the 10 first years of service with flights to Bogotá (BOG), Medellin (MDE), Armenia (AXM) and Cali (CLO).

Separately, the airline established non-stop flights also from Orlando (MCO) towards Cartagena, Bogota and Medellin. The addition of Bucaramanga and Barranquilla to the Fort Lauderdale line means that Spirit serves more cities in Colombia nonstop from the United States than any other airline, with a total of 10 routes from two different airports to seven Colombian cities.

New Destinations Expand Spirit's Reach in Colombia's Business and Leisure Markets. Barranquilla is the economic epicenter of the north coast. Bucaramanga is the center of the entire state of Santander and the eastern region of Colombia, which is a diverse market of origin and tourism. Spirit's service will be the first to connect this region with North America on a nonstop flight.
