the spanish airline More Ultra will fly to Cali and Cartagena in Colombia connecting with Ecuador within a new stage of growth in Latin America during this 2020.
Plus Ultra Líneas Aereas has announced the incorporation of Colombia to its portfolio of destinations. The company will begin operating the new Madrid-Cali-Cartagena route starting on 17 of June (subject to government approval).
Since this summer, The airline will add Colombia to its destination network, already flying to Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela, by introducing flights to Cali and Cartagena, scheduled to be operated on Airbus A340-600 aircraft.
Currently, The airline has an aircraft of the type -600, but it will incorporate its second aircraft of this model in the coming months.
Although the official announcement of the airline speaks of a triangulation on the Madrid route – Cali – Cartagena, It was learned that the airline's plans are to actually generate, a triangulation with Ecuador with the objective of enhancing both routes and also, allow greater cargo transportation.
The proposed itinerary, and already published on its website for sale and subject to approval by the different governments is the following:
- Madrid – Cali – Guayaquil – Madrid starting the 19 June 2020 with 2 weekly frequencies on Mondays and Fridays until 19 October where it is reduced to 1 weekly flight.
- Flight PU521 takes off from Madrid at 01:35 and lands in Cali at 05:15.
- Flight PU521 takes off from Cali at 07:15 and lands in Guayaquil at 08:55.
- Flight PU612 takes off from Guayaquil at 10:55 and lands back in Madrid at 05:15.
- Madrid – Cartagena – Quito – Madrid starting the 17 June 2020 with 2 weekly frequencies on Wednesdays and Saturdays until 10 October where it is reduced to 1 weekly flight.
- Flight PU531 takes off from Madrid at 11:15 and lands in Cartagena at 14:10.
- Flight PU531 takes off from Cartagena at 16:15 and lands in Quito at 18:35.
- Flight PU602 takes off from Quito at 20:50 and lands back in Madrid at 14:30.
It was learned that the airline will seek to have traffic rights and marketing between these destinations and what you would be looking to do, for example, Cali – Guayaquil – Cali and return to Madrid with traffic rights on all sections, which will be subject to subsequent approval, since currently the request presented to the aeronautical authority only specifies rights to third and fourth freedoms of the air:

While these issues are resolved, The confirmed route will be the one indicated above. In this way, the airline makes its operation to Quito and Guayaquil independent., staying Air Europa as the only operator in the Madrid triangulation – Quito – Guayaquil.
Equally, It is worth highlighting the presence in Latin America of the Spanish company, since the 60% of its passengers are originally from this market, in front of 40% español.
"Mostly, These travelers belong to the ethnic and vacation segment, although we also have a part of the executive or business segment”, pointed Preziuso, commercial director of Plus Ultra Líneas Aéreas.
The constant growth of Plus Ultra Líneas Aéreas is also evident in its human team., since in just these last four years it has gone from 80 a 400 employees, number that, what's more, With the incorporation of Colombia, its destination portfolio will increase.

Hello, we have a discount for Avianca crews.?
I could not tell you.
The new airplanes catch my attention. (A340-600) from Plus Ultra (former Etihad aircraft). In their original configuration they have 4 First class suites, and the rest Executive and Economy.
As I found out on the web, Plus Ultra will not sell First Class seats only Business Class. What will be done with First Class suites on flights, will be sold as Executive?
They took them out and changed the settings.
