the community project Tame Amazonia based at the airport Shell Mera. stop flying and will also enter the process of liquidation and closure.

After publication Decree 1061 where the extinction and liquidation of Tame EP began, it had been reported that certain routes where there is no private option, they would continue operating:

Tame, who has lost more than 400 million dollars in the last 5 years, will go into liquidation, preserving the routes that connect places that do not have private alternatives.

In this sense, it had been expected that the social project under the service of air taxi called Tame Amazonia continue operating and offering your service to the hundreds of communities that are in the most remote places of the vast Ecuadorian Amazon.

But this process could not be done., not having found the legal way to separate the dependent operation of Tame Amazonia from Tame EP, and so with date 8 July 2020 employees of this branch of the airline were informed that they will also be part of the general liquidation process of the main company.

Tame Amazonia

Tame Amazonia services officially started the 4 July 2014 as a project promoted by the national government with the aim of offering an air service to the Amazonian communities, which, due to their location, have difficulties in accessing food, health and education.

In this context, three American aircraft of the Quest Kodiak type were acquired 100 for this purpose, of which two remain operational today and they will enter the process of selling Tame EP assets and will be transferred to Quito.

Created as a dependent offshoot of Tame EP, with air taxi operation permit, Since its beginning of operations, it transported more than 100 thousand people and was key for many communities that benefited from this differentiated service.

With the closure of Tame Amazonia, It was learned that the national government works with the private sector to meet the needs of the inhabitants of the Amazon region and also in alternatives with the Armed Forces to guarantee the continuity of air connectivity in the region..

I leave you a video that I made years ago at that time with the Tame Virtual project aboard one of the Kodiak of Tame Amazonia:

Finally, here you can see an interview with the Manager of Tame Amazonia days ago about it:

It is terrible news how many indigenous communities are isolated by large rivers, jungles and swamps where roads are impossible to build… The government is indolent before the needs of thousands of poor Amazonian brothers, Quest Kodiak planes are super cheap to maintain, In addition, the operability and performance of these aircraft are 100% profitable. At first I thought that TAME was going to buy the Cessna 208 Caravan since they have more cargo and passenger capacity but the Quest Kodiak are the best for taking off and landing from small runways lower than the 600 meters. Legal figures to separate personal property from companies in liquidation if it exists, but the government does not care about the good life of the Amazonians.

  2. A good project that ends due to bad actions in administrative and financial matters. They must find some solution so as not to stop serving the communities of the East, they do need you.

    1. This government for ethics for morality must resign from its position, the next president must start serving these communities in the east that remain in limbo
