United Statess confirmed as a requirement to travel the presentation of a negative test as a condition to be able to board international flights to this country.

From the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or CDC for its acronym in English of the United States, the new mandatory requirement for all travelers seeking to board international flights to present a negative test was confirmed..

In this way, the official statement published by the CDC, the requirement to travel to the United States will enter into valid from the 26 of January of 2021 next as detailed:

Air passengers must undergo a viral test (a proof of current infection) within the 3 days before the departure of your flight to the United States. AND provide written documentation of the lab test result (on paper or electronic copy) to the airline or provide documentation of having recovered from COVID-19. Airlines must confirm negative test result for all passengers or recovery documentation prior to boarding. If a passenger fails to provide documentation of a negative test or recovery, or choose not to take a test, the airline must deny boarding to the passenger.

  • This requirement also applies to passengers transiting in the United States to other countries..
  • The negative test applies to all travelers, including americans.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is expanding the requirement for a negative COVID-19 test to all air passengers entering the United States.. Pre- and post-travel testing is a critical layer in slowing the introduction and spread of COVID-19.

Before departure to the United States, a test required, combined with CDC recommendations to retest for 3 a 5 days after arrival and stay at home for 7 days after the trip, will help slow the spread of COVID-19 within communities in the United States and related infections. Pre-departure testing with results known and taken into account before travel begins will help identify infected travelers before boarding planes.

Type of test

The CDC confirmed the types of tests accepted to meet the requirement before boarding:

  • NAAT test or also known as PCR.
  • Antigen test.
