First we must indicate that the requirements indicated here are general and may change from airline to airline and from country to country., so it is key to consult with your company and final destinations beforehand, to fly with a pet or assistance dog you must take into account:
- Usually, transportation of assistance dogs, rescue, service or guides have no additional cost to the purchased ticket, but it never hurts to consult directly with the airline with which you plan to fly or already have a ticket.
- Depending on the airline, notification of the transport of this type of animal from 48 until 24 hours before flight departure.
- Service or emotional dogs must always be on a leash together with a harness or equivalent.
- The dog must have a credential and/or letter of a maximum of one year from its issuance by a doctor specifying the condition that warrants your company.
- For trips to USA You must have the current forms of the Service Animal Transportation Departmentor and of Service Animal Assistance Attestation Department.
- It is not possible to reserve seats in the emergency exit.
- Search and rescue dogs must have their vest, certificate, collar, double strap and chip.
- Each passenger can bring up to one assistance dog.
- It is recommended to go to the check-up counter one hour before normal hours to verify the dog's documents.
- There is no size restriction of the dog, as long as it does not interrupt the flow of passengers. Should you comply with this:
- Free transfer in winery.
- Purchase an additional seat.
- Flight change.
- The dog must be in perfect health and hygiene.
- Other requirements may apply.
It is important to take into account that there may be other requirements, including age, type and information on the certificate that each airline may require, so do not forget to previously consult the specific requirements of the company.
