The airline LATAM Ecuador reported that it transported the first doses of vaccines to the Galapagos Islands from the Airports of Quito and Guayaquil.
With a very demanding and delicate security protocol, last 1 and 2 February LATAM Airlines Ecuador transported on two flights, from Quito and Guayaquil, towards Baltra/Santa Cruz and San Cristobal respectively, the first delivery of vaccines against COVID-19, destined for the Galapagos Islands.
This transfer occurs after the airline made available - last December- of the National Government and the corresponding authorities, the free mobilization of vaccines on all domestic routes that LATAM Airlines Ecuador serves in the country, within the framework of the Solidarity Plane Program.
Once again, the entire human and technical team of LATAM Airlines Ecuador launched its commitment and capacity to attend to the transportation of the vaccines and the members of the Ministry of Health team that transported them., within the so-called, port to IATA, "mission of the century".

Solidarity Plane
Free transportation of vaccines to contain the COVID-19 It is part of the actions of the LATAM Airlines “Solidarity Plane” Program, which has acted as an air bridge between South America and the world during the pandemic to help the countries where it operates cope with the pandemic. From the 23 last march, the program has transported free of charge to more than 900 health professionals and more 400 people with urgent health care needs. What's more, has moved more than 700 organs and tissues within South America.
It has also contributed to giving second chances at life to patients with blood cancer by transferring stem cells for the first time., through in LATAM Cargo. Till the date, eight stem cell transports have been carried out: six for patients from Chile through the Frankfurt route – Santiago; one from Brazil to Argentina, as well as another from Santiago to Europe.
On the other hand, through LATAM Cargo, Avión Solidario has transported more than 1.000 tons of cargo, mainly medical supplies such as masks, rapid tests for the detection of COVID-19, medicines, among other products, from different parts of the world to the region, benefiting Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. The most important milestone in the transfer of medical supplies was that LATAM Cargo made the route to China for the first time, realizing 60 flights from the Asian country to the region.
