Ecuador has updated its guidelines, protocols and requirements for entry by air which includes the vaccination card and presentation of antigen test.

The Ecuadorian Emergency Operations Committee has taken an important step to open up to the world and reactivate tourism, flights and the entire production chain in a more efficient way.

In this way, from 00:00 on Monday 22 march 2021 passengers entering the country on international flights may present either an RT-PCR test, of antigens or your vaccination card against CV-19 based on the following guidelines:

This update is based on consideration of people who have already been immunized with the COVID-19 vaccine as of 21 January in Ecuador and several countries that already have a vaccination card.

  • Any person who enters Ecuador through any of the authorized entry points, must present obligatory a negative RT-PCR test or antigen test, performed up to three (3) days before arrival in Ecuador o the vaccination card against COVID-19 or its equivalent, with full schematic.
  • Any person who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 with a positive RT-PCR, with more than one month from the date of onset of symptoms and who continues to present positive RT-PCR tests, as long as there are no symptoms, You must present a Medical Certificate issued in the country of origin that guarantees your state of health to enter Ecuador.
  • Children under two years of age and crew members are exempt from presenting a negative RT-PCR test or rapid antigen test upon arrival, or vaccination card.
  • Transit passengers in Ecuador must not present a negative RT-PCR test or antigen test or vaccination card against COVID-19.
  • Every passenger upon arrival at airports in Ecuador will go through a temperature sensor that will identify temperatures higher than 37.5°C..
  • Note: The use of "Immunity Certificates or Vaccination Cards" for international travel in the context of COVID-19 will be subject to constant review as scientific literature advances..

Take note that the guidelines for admission by air indicate that the PCR or antigen test must now be carried out at the maximum 3 days before arrival in Ecuador and no longer 10 days as we were used to.

      1. According to what the protocol mentions, a minor of 4 years if you must submit the test. Only those under 2 years are exempt.

“Children under two years of age and crew members are exempt from presenting a negative RT-PCR test or rapid antigen test upon arrival., or vaccination card.

        1. In this case, an antigen test could be done on children since in some countries the PCR test cannot be done on minors 12 years
