I tell you the story Paul Aucapiña, who translates passion for aviation by making model airplanes of any wood airplane and airline.
We are still looking for stories of aviation entrepreneurs, days ago I showed the story of john jose who makes highly detailed paintings of aerial subjects from Costa Rica, Today we are going to talk about an Ecuadorian who loves aviation, this is his story:
All this started from a very young age when I liked the world of aviation..
Since more or less 10 years ago I began to build airplanes with the materials that I had on hand, such as sheets of paper, newspaper and everything that at that time could use. The years went by and I was changing materials towards PVC pipes (for the fuselage) and for the wings I used some plastic plates and little by little I was putting lights on them and trying to give them more details.

Until one day my dad encouraged me and told me that (why not make them to scale) so that I can get a little money, this for him 2017 when I was about to finish school and that's when I set my eye on this project.
For him 2019 I was presented with a job Cuenca Airport for the company TALMA and services were provided to LATAM Airlines and this encouraged me even more in the world of aviation. I had the privilege of seeing what the planes were like inside and out. I also loved taking photos of the planes that arrived in Cuenca. (watching the landings and takeoffs was exciting) in this way I had a clearer idea of how to replicate the planes.

In this company I worked for a (1 year) and as a result of my departure I had a little money saved with which I bought a machine (a small wood lathe) and I started to make my first scale plane that I remember was an Airbus S320 with the colors of LATAM and I announced it on social networks, Many people were interested in the plane but I only had one, so I dedicated myself to manufacturing more planes of different models such as the MD-80., Boeing 747 O Boeing 727.

The construction of the planes
First I select the model to be built and then I select the raw material, which is wood., I put it on my lathe (to make the fuselage) and I start to mold until something similar to the model is left, then I disassemble it from the lathe and apply plastic putty to give it the shape of the nose of the plane (nose).
After that I proceed to draw a template of what the wings are, horizontal tail stabilizers, and the tail of the plane and likewise make the cut already in the wood later until joining each piece that shapes the plane.
I continue with the paint until it is dry and I start to build the plane engines with the same procedure until I mount them on the plane.

Finally, the plane is painted with the image or airline that the client wants, finishing with lacquer to give it a perfect finish.
My dream
I really like aviation, my dream is to become pilot, but the costs of the race are very high, for which I dedicate myself to making these wooden planes to be able to fulfill it.

It would be necessary to ask Paul
Thanks to you I was able to find it
Nice Douglas.
Congratulations Paul, also in my youth I made model airplanes 1/60 to express my passion for aviation.
Keep going until you fulfill your dream !!!
Thanks for your comment Michael.!
