The airline Avianca Ecuador has requested new flights to operate between the cities of Guayaquil and New York.

One of the most important routes for traffic from Ecuador would have a new competitor, Avianca Ecuador has requested the National Civil Aviation Council to be assigned frequencies to fly to New York.

With order entered on 20 of June, Avianca Ecuador S.A requests to renew and modify its operating permit for the provision of air transport service, public, international, regular passenger, combined face and mail and increment the following route:

• Guayaquil – New York – Guayaquil with up to seven (7) weekly frequencies, with traffic rights of third and fourth freedoms of the air.

Once this request is authorized, the airline must carry out the respective procedures before the Department of Transportation – DoT of the USA and respective certification processes before a potential start of flights.

If this intention is realized, Avianca Ecuador would compete between Guayaquil and New York together with JetBlue (2 Daily flights), Eastern Airlines (5 weekly flights) and LATAM Ecuador (until 9 weekly flights, route suspended since March 2020).
