Travellers Ecuadorians may enter the country on international flights without presenting PCR proof due to limited access to this requirement in USA.
The measure is transitory and it has not been explained until when it will be in force, but it will be a relief for Ecuadorians who are about to travel to Ecuador.
Due to the high demand for RT-PCR tests registered in the United States and the congestion that has been maintained in the laboratories for performing the PCR tests, making an exception due to the fact that some passengers have been unable to find laboratories where the test can be carried out with 72 hours in advance losing flights and canceling trips at the last minute, this exception is made.
with this scenery, the Ministry of Public Health of Ecuador has published a temporary guideline for these travelers as specified:
- Presentation of the vaccination card with complete schedule, with the application of the second dose at least with 14 days before the trip.
- They must compulsorily carry out the RT-PCR Test at the time of arrival in the city of Quito or Guayaquil., at the cost of the traveler.
- Carry out mandatory preventive isolation by 14 days, for which they will be monitored by telephone during the days of isolation and report the result of the PCR test during this monitoring.
Additionally, it is indicated:
- For people who come from localities where the vaccination protocol contemplates the administration of the vaccine after 6 months of COVID-19 infection and for this reason has not been vaccinated; the issued certificate of infection will be taken into account as if it were a vaccination certificate. These people will be asked obligatorily the certificate of not having received the vaccine for infection that does not exceed the 6 months and test RT-PCR negative.
- Passengers who, due to their health condition, cannot receive the COVID-19 vaccine, You must present a medical certificate that supports said condition and you will be asked to obligatorily negative RT-PCR test.
This guideline will be in force until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday. 13 January 2022.

The truth is I hope that if it can happen, It would be an important advance for aviation and transportation and if they do it, it is because the infection rate has dropped, It would certainly be excellent news.. Good post
Buenas tardes
In the letter sent by the Ministry of Health, I note that Quiport is notified , but not to TAGSA or to any organization that has to do with the Guayaquil airport.
I find it weird
JIMMY
for more, communication in general is very rare.
Dear Nicholas, airlines are not notified, they know nothing and the travel agencies are waiting for the national COE to rule, so we continue with a negative PCR or it does not ship, In addition, the PCR are in the USA at $150 each test and the results arrive between 48 a 72 hours.
Thank you Jaime, Unfortunately, this is what I feared in the face of last minute measures and non-massive notifications to North American airlines..
Nicolas, thanks for the info. I have asked the airlines, and they tell me they don't know anything. what is your source?
Thanks
Hello there, Vicente I have updated the post with the official document from the Ministry, unfortunately what I feared is happening, airlines have not been notified.
