In this new interview, We are going to know what are the pillars and the vision of Airbus for a greener future and sustainable for global aviation. Airbus press photo
Definitely, The airline industry is one of the industries that promotes and promotes the most actions for a sustainable future, less polluting and friendly to the environment, even being an example for other industries that have been left behind in these important actions in favor of the planet.
Despite the fact that the airline industry represents only between 2% and 3% of emissions on a global scale, is the one that has the most eyes on it by regulatory entities and environmental activists and that is why to avoid a future with fewer flights, hard work is being done to further reduce this impact.
Aviation will be increasingly green according to Airbus
With this introductory context, I was able to talk exclusively with Guillaume Gressin, International Vice President of Business Strategy and Operations for Airbus in Latin America about the European manufacturer's plans for a green future in its aircraft and the overview of the airline industry.
Airbus base your strategy, among many other points, in the following:
- Design: designing fuel-efficient aircraft that achieve better environmental performance, including reduction of NOx and CO2 emissions.
- production and manufacturing: ISO environmental management system 14001 to manage the footprint of industrial operations.
- Sustainable supply chain: Work closely with suppliers to select materials that are ethically and responsibly sourced with minimal impact on the environment.
- Operations: sustainable fuels and air traffic management solutions to achieve optimal fuel savings throughout the entire lifetime of aircraft.
- Recycling at the end of its useful life: we dismantle aircraft in a way that maximizes reuse and recycling, plus safe disposal of non-recyclable parts.
- new planes: design and manufacture of new aircraft seeking new alternatives for electric or hydrogen propulsion, more use of SAF.
More initiatives are being developed in Airbus, How are new technologies and materials, but to know more, I invite you to watch this conversation with Guillaume Gressin who tells us extensively about everything the company has in store for the future.:
