The Aeronautical Research Foundation, is a non-profit organization created in 2006 by some aeronautical engineering students in Bogotá Colombia; his spirit is: unionize renegade researchers in general engineering matters, help us in the private and individual projects of each one.

We loved being called renegades (we were young), because almost all of our projects were rejected by the engineering faculties where we studied because almost all of them involved the construction of prototypes and since they knew that they were not prepared, this instilled in him a lot of fear that one of those devices would fail and give them a bad reputation. Almost all of us were encouraged only to make our theses and monographs to be stored on the shelves and in extreme cases to make only a scale model or mockup.. There were some other projects in the country, there were already some ultralight factories that were desperate for someone to put numbers to their structural and performance calculations for upcoming certifications.
They began to recruit students with the same spirit of improvement and aeronautical learning. The companies could not pay us and we could not guarantee that the work would look good because we had never done it. the perfect symbiosis, we put the time and our work and they put the planes where we could test what it gave us in our experimental calculations, we started to do too, some engineering orders that some companies made in 300 leaves when they are really needed 20.
We started designing and certifying for people who had no money but a lot of enthusiasm., they went at all risks but even so they had confidence in us, We were pioneers in these jobs and we also gained experience. Some of our founding members are in the national industry and many have emigrated to other parts of the world with more opportunities.; but nevertheless they still maintain their volunteering.
Certainly not everyone deserves the title of renegade., that is earned is with a lot of sacrifice and love for the profession. we are all volunteers. Volunteering is the most beautiful phase of the human being, and it is an act of total love for the career he chose, not all are willing, but nevertheless it also takes advantage of the knowledge that is only possible with experience; it's like doing a master's degree.

What drives us is to develop our local industry, We cannot remain helpless while everything is imported and our technicians and engineers have to leave to develop their capabilities., deliver all their efforts to countries where they do take advantage of their capabilities that later come to sell us here where they were despised and watching how the technological distances are getting bigger every day.
Today, we have some volunteers also aircraft technicians, and vehicles in general, pilots and above all aeronautical engineers that we are dissatisfied with the destiny that our leaders have given to the national industry, we do not drive cars made in our country, those who have done experimental aviation, son considerados por nosotros como héroes solitarios combatiendo a pulso todas las trabas que se le imponen de manera sistemática por la burocracia local.
