Open Group —made up of its operating companies Avianca and GOAL and for a strategic investment in Wamos Air— y SKY Airline announced today that they have presented documentation to competition authorities, requesting regulatory approval to incorporate the Chilean airline into one of the leading air transport groups in Latin America.

Abra and SKY reached an agreement in principle to carry out this transaction, subject to approval of the competition authorities, to complete the definitive documentation and to comply with other conditions precedent.

SKY is almost part of Abra

During the final documentation and regulatory approval process, the parties will maintain full independence, the way users, providers, employees and entities relate to different companies will remain the same, and airlines will retain their internal and external processes, as well as its own sales channels and customer service, as they are known today.

«SKY is a company with which we share the same purpose: access to air transport as a priority. In Abra, we want more people in Latin America to be able to fly, and that they can do it reliably, with the best network of connections, with friendly service and a competitive offer. Adding SKY to the Group will allow us to continue strengthening the region's air market«, said Adrian Neuhauser, CEO of Abra Group.

This is great news for our company and for our passengers.”, pointed out Holger Paulmann, president of SKY Airline. “Once the principle of agreement presented today to the respective free competition authorities is finalized, SKY will become part of a group that today operates with a combined fleet of more than 300 aircraft and connects more than 140 destinations in more than 25 countries. This will mean more routes, more opportunities and more travel options for our passengers, without leaving aside our essence”.

At the closing of the transaction, the property of SKY will be consolidated under the Group, and the current majority shareholders of the Chilean company will have a percentage of the ownership of Abra. SKY will keep your brand, culture, and talent, and Holger Paulmann will continue as chairman of its board of directors.
