Alaska Airlines today announced an order for 105 new planes 737-10 and five new 787, thus exercising all previous options on the 787 what he had with Boeing. The airline also obtained the rights to 35 planes 737-10 additional. This request, which represents the largest in the history of the airline, secures critical delivery slots and extends aircraft delivery flow up to 2035.
This order brings Alaska's total order book up by Boeing a 245 planes, in addition to the 94 MAX aircraft currently operating.
Alaska placed its largest order
By combining growth and replacement aircraft 737 previous, this order will maintain Alaska's fleet as one of the youngest in the industry and the most fuel efficient for any global premium airline.
Alaska already operates a narrowbody fleet that includes aircraft 737-9 and 737-8. This order is for airplanes 737-10, but the airline retains the flexibility to adjust to a different model if necessary. The five planes 787 additional widebody aircraft support the Alaska Accelerate strategic plan and will allow the airline to fly at least 12 long-haul international destinations from Seattle to 2030. This order raises our future fleet of 787 wide body to 17, with five already in operation throughout the network. The intention is that these five 787 are delivered as the variant -10.
With a current fleet of 413 planes, Alaska Air Group airlines will operate a fleet of more than 475 planes for 2030 and more of 550 for 2035.
The airline also welcomed the first 787-9 with the global image of Alaska. The new exterior design of the 787-9 is inspired by the natural wonder of the Northern Lights, with a palette of deep midnight blues and lush emerald greens that reflect the energy of the aurora and the spirit of the brand Alaska. Using a new aeronautical painting technique, the artists dedicated almost 1000 hours during 13 days to paint the exterior of the plane, from nose to tail.
