Nikuman japanese Quito

Donburi is located in the north center of the city in the Republica de Salvador Street next to the Lepark Hotel. It a cozy place decorated with the simplicity and charm of the Japanese culture. I got to know about this place due that the Japanese Embassy promotes it in their social media. It offers a good variety of traditional Donburi, which meansbowlin Japanese. It consists in stir fried meat and vegetables served on top of a bowl of rice. They also offer other traditional food such as nikuman (dough ball with pork filling), onigiris (fried rice balls) and a variety of traditional soups. If you are a foodie for Japanese food this is the place you should visit

The chef Nomura-san is a specialist in traditional cuisine. Every year he prepares special menus at the end of October, but its most popular creations is Ramen soup. This soup is made of wheat noodles, egg, vegetables, dry seaweed but what really gives its flavor is the slices of pork used as toppings. The meat used in the soup is a cut called belly pork. The chashu pork preparation is extensive; it usually takes about 20 hours of slow cooking in order to get its flavors and its tender texture. No wonder Donburi offers this only once a year.

Oh! And as dessert don’t forget to try delicious green tea ice cream.
