This is the operation of Cubana de Aviación with its subsidiary Cubana Cargo, which operates up to 2 weekly flights with Tupolev Tu-204 cargo planes to Quito from Havana.

After having suspended his intention to fly so regulate passengers to Ecuador, the airline maintains a small presence in the country with its cargo operation.

The airline at the end of 2017 renewed and modified its operating permit from 1 a 2 weekly flights and changing from charter to regular flight, permit that was renewed in October 2019 through its legal representative in the following clauses:

On your operating permit, The airline highlights that it will operate the following routes, frequencies and rights:

  • Cuba and/or Panama and/or Caracas and/or Bogotá and/or Quito and/or Guayaquil and/or Latacunga and/or Manta and/or Lima and return.

This route will operate with third and fourth rights freedoms of the air with up to two weekly frequencies with the airline's own Tupolev Tu-204 aircraft.

It should be noted that the points Panama, Caracas, Bogotá and Lima will be operated without commercial air rights based on Ecuador.

Cubana Cargo operation in Quito

Currently, The airline operates only on Saturdays at Quito Mariscal Sucre International Airport with one of its two active Tupolev Tu-204-100EC freighters in its fleet. Flights generally operate direct from Havana to Quito and back, On some occasions and due to demand or cargo weight, it lands in Manta or Panama.

It should also be noted that the Cubana Cargo operation is authorized so that on some occasions under lease in wet lease mode and depending on the availability of the airline's fleet, these flights are made by Boeing aircraft 727- 100 and 200F belonging to the Colombian freighter LAS – South American Airlines via Panama or Bogotá, headquarters of this Colombian airline.

    I need to know if I can send unaccompanied cargo to Cuba, to be picked up there by someone else, Although I did not travel at that time and what procedures should I do from Quito to Havana?.
