ALTA and Ecuador sign an Aeronautical Cooperation Agreement in order to promote the necessary and mutually beneficial cooperation to reach a safer and more efficient air transport.

The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (HIGH), The General Directorate of Civil Aviation of Ecuador and the Ministry of Transport and Public Works of Ecuador today signed a Cooperation Agreement in Civil Aeronautics with the objective of establishing the general conditions that achieve cooperation and technical assistance in the fields of operational safety, air navigation and related aeronautical technical-administrative processes, as well as initiatives to promote safer and more efficient air transport.

For the airline industry, operational safety is an issue of vital importance and raising safety standards in the region is a joint effort between all industry players.. Under this agreement, the parties will make their technical capabilities available, knowledge, experience, skills, available resources and technologies in order to achieve the cooperation and assistance required to promote safer and more efficient air transportation, that positively impacts the country, industry and passengers.

Within the framework of this agreement, ALTA chose Ecuador as the venue for the tenth edition of the Pan American Aviation Safety Summit (Pan American Operational Safety Summit) organized by ALTA in association with the Pan American Regional Operational Security Group (RASG-PA, for its acronym in English), the International Civil Aviation Organization (OACI), the International Air Transport Association (THERE IT IS, for its acronym in English) y Flight Safety Foundation.

The Pan American Operational Safety Summit is the most important operational safety event in the region, focused on analyzing trends and developing critical solutions for the future of the aviation industry and offering passengers the highest standards of air safety. Within the framework of this Summit, the RASG-PA Plenary meeting will take place, which brings together civil aviation authorities to discuss the main regional aviation safety issues.

The importance of the sector

The travel and tourism sector in Ecuador is a great engine for the economy, generating more than 344.000 jobs (direct, indirect and induced) and contributing more than $5 billion dollars to GDP, according to WTTC. In the last decade, the domestic market of Ecuador has almost doubled its traffic and growth prospects are very positive, so HIGH, the DGAC, the Ministry of Transport and Public Works and the Ecuadorian government aim to promote the growth of safer air transport, efficient and sustainable that continues to promote the economic and social development of the country through investments, new sources of employment, tourism and international integration.

In addition to the operational safety event, ALTA will bring the 13th edition of ALTA Aviation Law Americas to Ecuador, the ALTA aeropolitical and legal affairs event. Two great events that bring together experts from the airline industry of the Americas, The Caribbean and Europe will have this great country as their headquarters in 2019.
