Since March 2019, Tame EP stop flying to Lima, route that currently operates with a daily flight Monday to Sunday in Airbus A319 and Embraer aircraft 190.

Continuing with his plan 2019 of improvements in its operation/profitability, The Ecuadorian flag airline will stop flying to the capital of the Peru from the 5 of March, His last flight being 5 of this month.

UPDATE 01/03/2019

The airline was authorized to suspend the route between Quito and Lima for the period of 1 year to count from 6 March under Resolution 02-2019:

tame suspends route lima quito

———-

The flight that unites Jorge Chavez with the Marshal Sucre from Tame EP started the 26 November 2012 as part of the airline's aggressive international expansion plan at the time and was the airline's seventh international destination.

Now this route is added to Salinas and New York such as the most recent canceled/suspended routes with the aim of seeking profitability and getting ahead of the crisis that began 2016.

In the recent interview with Octavio Pérez General Manager of Tame EP, We were able to learn that the airline will stop operating all routes that are not profitable and the airline will focus on recovering the market Ecuadorian domestic airline, your main source of income today.

reasons

Although it has not been known, for now, the official reasons for the closure of the route, We can understand from what was previously discussed in the interview, that this route would not meet expected occupancy and profitability levels.

Additional, It must be taken into account that this route operates mainly as a feeder route to and from the Quito route. – New York that stops operating and is suspended this 31 from January.

The most important source of income for this route were the passengers who flew from Lima to Quito and continued connecting to New York., so it is important to remember that this route was moved to Guayaquil when the most important Tame route was also moved to the "Main Port".

With the closing of Lima, The airline will continue to operate internationally only to Cali, Bogota and Fort Lauderdale.

Finally, the Quito route – Lima will be served by Avianca Ecuador, LATAM Ecuador and very soon Peruvian Airlines, which will take advantage of the space left by Tame EP to take that space in the market.

  1. Why don't you inform us if with the elimination of all those routes how many people stop working and how much does the staff currently amount to?
