Colombian airline Wingo has everything ready to start its new direct route between the city of Bogotá and Guayaquil.

from this 3 august 2019 the low cost Wingo will fly to its second destination within Ecuador after fly to Quito from late 2016, in what is a route that has been dreaming since the creation of this airline, finally the plans will materialize with initially, two weekly flights.

Within this process, wingo airline, what is the trade name, since these flights are operated by Aerorepública S.A.. from Colombia, obtained authorization from the National Civil Aviation Council of Ecuador – CNAC to fly this route based on the following provisions:

The airline achieved the modification of its operating permit for the provision of regular air transport in force to operate the Bogotá route – Guayaquil – Bogota with up to two (2) weekly frequencies with traffic rights.

This route will be served by Boeing aircraft 737-700 ng and coming soon, with the renewal and change of aircraft in Wingo, will be operated, together with Quito and the rest of destinations, by Boeing aircraft 737-800 NG with a higher passenger capacity.

Bogota – Guayaquil

During the 2018, on this route they mobilized 267.958 passengers, what represents the 14.27% of the total international traffic of the José Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport, thus being the second route with the highest demand behind Panama with 420.244 passengers, but above Miami that transported 232.521 during said year.

The start of Wingo puts pressure and anticipates the expected for a few months, also new route and return to Ecuador, from Viva Air Colombia, which for now only makes Wingo a competitor on this route along with Avianca Ecuador, which has been for a long time the only operator between both cities (Tame EP operated this route for a few weeks during the 2018) and will make the market more dynamic by offering a new option for this important destination.
