The José Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport of Guayaquil proposes new incentives to attract more airlines.

New incentives
The proposal of the Airport Authority of Guayaquil, seeks to generate an extension to the current ordinance approved by the Municipality of Guayaquil, to expand benefits for airlines.
Among these benefits in discounts on landing and parking costs are:
- Airlines that operate new international routes to Guayaquil directly or that also make a previous stopover at another Ecuadorian airport, will receive discounts from 75%, 50%, 25% and 15% successively during their first 4 years of operation.
- Airlines that already operate and increase international frequencies will receive discounts from the 50%, 25% and 15% successively for the first 3 years of this increase.
- cargo airlines (regular the charter) that increase frequencies or start flights, will get discounts from 100%, 75%, 50%, 25% and 15% respectively during the five years of operation.
These benefits may also be applied by airlines that have started operations during the 2019 retroactively.
Statistics
At the Guayaquil airport, passenger traffic shows a growth of 5.30%, both incoming and outgoing passengers.
1,858,352 international passengers were mobilized, experiencing a growth of 5.50% compared to the previous year that registered 1,761,413 passengers; Regarding cargo, it was transported 6.089,12 TM:, with regard to flights through this airport, 13.265 movements.
As for the domestic, at 2018 1,877,474 passengers were transported in regular air service; with a growth of 4.38% regarding the year 2017 that 1,798,679 were registered. The passengers entered through the Guayaquil airport were 913.515 while those who left were 963.959 passengers, by regular air service.

These three cities add up to 49.04%; while the 13 remaining cities transported the 50.96% of the total number of passengers in regular air service.
In this service in the year 2018 through the JOSE JOAQUIN OLMEDO Airport in the city of Guayaquil, they mobilized 26.947,21 ton of load; of which 10.945,61 Tm correspond to input load and 16.028,60 Tm at output load. This airport represents 12.32% of cargo transportation mobilized through the country's regular service.
