Airbus has revealed to MAVERIC (Aircraft Model for Validation and Experimentation of Robust Innovative Controls) su demostrador tecnológico de modelo a escala de «fuselaje integrado».
With 2 meters long and 3,2 meters wide, with an area of approx. 2,25 m², MAVERIC (not related to Top Gun) features a disruptive aircraft design, which has the potential to reduce the fuel consumption even in a 20 percent compared to current single-aisle aircraft.
La configuración de «fuselaje integrado» también abre nuevas posibilidades para la integración de sistemas de propulsión, as well as a versatile cabin for a whole new onboard passenger experience.
Launched in 2017, MAVERIC first took to the skies in June of 2019. Since then, the flight test team has made progress in the process and will continue through the end of the second quarter of 2020 in studies.

«Aunque no hay una línea de tiempo específica para la entrada en servicio, este demostrador tecnológico podría ser fundamental para lograr un cambio en las arquitecturas de aviones comerciales para un futuro ambientalmente sostenible para la industria de la aviación» dijo Jean-Brice Dumont, EVP Engineering Airbus.

Airbus is utilizing its core engineering and manufacturing strengths and capabilities, in close collaboration with an extended innovation ecosystem, to speed up traditional research and development cycles. By doing this, Airbus is capable of achieving proof of concepts, at compelling scale and speed, thus promoting maturity and increasing the value of the project.
Via AirbusUpNext, a research program, Airbus is currently working on several demonstration projects in parallel.; E-FAN X (hybrid-electric propulsion), fello’fly (vuelo en «formación» en forma de V) and ATTOL (autonomous taxi takeoff and landing).
