During September 2020 continued the growth and increase in passengers transported in Ecuador on flights domestic e international.
Thanks to monthly newsletters that the General Directorate of Civil Aviation of Ecuador – DGAC has been publishing since last June, we can see in detail the evolution of the demand for air passenger traffic in the country since the resumption of operations.
Before reviewing the new statistics for September, Let us briefly remember the evolution and growth that demand has had since the 1 June 2020, date on which Ecuador took the first step towards the recovery of the local airline industry:
- June of 2020: 28.146 passengers.
- july 2020: 56.008 passengers.
- August of 2020: 78.205 passengers.
According to data from the aeronautical authority, in Ecuador it was recorded in the month of September 2020 a mobilization of 97.924 passengers at national and international level (in regular and non-regular service together). further, 20,554,348 Metric Tons of flower cargo were mobilized, perishable products, mail and other products.
From the aforementioned figures, the passengers mobilized in the regular domestic service were 32.399 and regular international (in and out) 58.265 passengers. On his side, in non-regular domestic service, they transported 4.720 passengers, while at the international level it does not regulate (in and out) were 2.540 users.
With the resumption of international flights to and from Bogota with Avianca and Wingo, with Lima via LATAM and more the increase in flight frequencies to Panama with Copa, significant growth can be expected that will allow us to pass the limit of 100 thousand monthly passengers for the month of October, although still well below the monthly average of the 2019.
Instead, Domestically, the upward trend continues with the consolidation of flights between Guayaquil and Quito, as well as the Cuenca route – Quito and that with the slight increase in domestic and international tourism to Galapagos, have allowed demand to also continue to react upwards.
