Qatar Airways Cargo transported 5000 tons of flores for Valentine's Day, introducing additional flights and charters to meet demand.
It was a floral February for Qatar Airways Cargo, since he transported millions of flowers for Valentine's Day, one of the most important events in the world. Qatar Airways Cargo transported more than 5000 tons of flowers, mainly roses and carnations. The increase in flower exports for Valentine's Day 2021 is a testament to customer confidence in airline cold chain solutions.
Flowers were sent around the world on dozens of freighters, being the main markets Ecuador, Colombia and Kenya. The flowers also traveled from the Netherlands, India, South Africa, Uganda, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Ethiopia, among other countries.
Guillaume Halleux, Qatar Airways Cargo Director, said:
“Valentine's Day is a global celebration and there is no better way to express your love than with flowers.. We are pleased to help spread tons of love and joy around the world by introducing additional capacity and freighters on our key routes to help our customers.. By understanding the nature of these delicate flowers, we have special processes to guarantee a perfect cold chain for its transport”.
To meet the demand, Qatar Airways Cargo operated eight freighters Boeing 777 from Quito with flowers for the European and Australian markets, in addition to his four flights on Boeing 777 weekly scheduled. The carrier also added three freighters from Quito to Miami, in addition to the three regular frequencies. Miami is one of the largest distribution centers in the USA from America.
also added 13 mini freighters and five Boeing freighters 777 en Nairobi, to support Valentine's Day shipments, in addition to transporting flowers in its four regular weekly frequencies. From Bogota, the airline transported flowers in its two weekly frequencies.
It is the airline's fifth Valentine's season in Ecuador, the second from Colombia and the sixteenth season from Kenya.
Usually, in all the 2020, Qatar Airways Cargo transported close to 32.000 tons of flowers.
