Today I will explain what the differences are between each of the fare families and classes of the Ecuadorian airline EquAir.
Several people recently asked me about the differences between Cacao and Gran Cacao from the newest domestic airline in Ecuador, so today I am going to tell you more in detail about their differences, especially in the service on board.
how do you know, last 10 of January of 2022 began the flights EquAir between Quito – Guayaquil and Galapagos, which made it the fourth domestic domestic scheduled airline, so the questions about what it's like to fly with them, their planes, service and more have arrived day by day.
equeAir: rate families and classes
On the day of the inaugural flight I was able to be present on one of the first flights of the airline, so I can share with you first-hand what the service is like and the differences between one class and another, but let's start with the fare families:
Fare families
The best way to understand the differences is with the following table:
As we can see, exist 5 categories defined as Promo, economic, Flexi, SuperFlexi y Premium. All very similar since they all include hand luggage and hold luggage (the Premium allows you to carry 2 suitcases).
The rest of the differences is that each category will allow or not returns, changes with or without penalty and additional discounts for children and seniors, so the recommendation will be that you choose the one that best suits your travel needs.
Lessons
As we see above and I have told you before, the airline offers two classes of service: Cocoa and Grand Cocoa.
Each of these are their differences in what the passenger receives on board during the different flights and here we review them:
Cacao
Cacao class is the equivalent of economy class on other airlines, but with these benefits:
- a carry-on bag
- A hold bag
- Free check-in and seat assignment
- On Quito flights – Guayaquil – Quito: Pacari soft drinks and chocolate.
- On flights to Galapagos: soft drinks and a sandwich.
great cocoa
Regarding Gran Cacao, this is equivalent to a Business class with the following benefits:
- a carry-on bag
- Two hold bags
- Free check-in and seat assignment in the first three rows of seats.
- Plug to charge devices under the seats.
- On Quito flights – Guayaquil – Quito: soft drinks and canapes.
- On flights to Galapagos: soft or alcoholic drinks, special sandwich and fruits in the morning for flights in the afternoon hot food.
In the video that I leave below you can see more details at the end of it about the type of food that is provided on board:
If you want to see more details about the experience of flying with EquAir, I invite you to see this full flight report:
I hope that this guide will help you decide which of the fares or classes to select for your next flight..

could you indicate in the table what classes are for each rate family please
Hello there, Cacao and Gran Cacaro are the two classes and in the table are the names of each one and their family.
Both classes are very good., in whatever class you are in the service looks very good, I have a lot of faith in equair and I find the service and experience on board to be very good., I hope this Ecuadorian airline prospers. Good post I had some doubts about how the equair classes worked, thanks for solving them.
Thanks Joaquin
