During the month of March, the indicators of THERE IT IS showed positive signs of recovery in air traffic at the regional and global levels.
The International Air Transport Association (THERE IT IS) reported passenger data for March 2022 which show that the travel recovery air continues. The impacts of the conflict on Ukraine in demand for air travel were quite limited overall, while Omicron-related effects continued to be largely focused on Asian domestic markets.
March 2022: so global air traffic advances
- Total traffic in March 2022 (measured in revenue passenger-kilometres or RPK) increased a 76,0% compared to March 2021. Although it was lower than the increase in 115,9 % in February year-on-year demand, March volumes were closest to those of 2019 before -pandemic levels, in a 41% under.
- The national traffic of March 2022 increased a 11,7% compared to the same period of the previous year, well below the year-on-year improvement in 59,4% registered in february. - International RPKs increased by 285,3% versus March 2021, surpassing the increase in 259,2% experienced in February compared to the same period of the previous year. Most regions improved their performance compared to the previous month, led by operators from Europe. International RPKs for March 2022 they fell a 51,9% compared to the same month 2019.

March traffic increased by 239,9% compared to the same month 2021, unchanged from the increase in 241,9% in february 2022 compared to February 2021. The region benefited from the departure of the Chapter 11 of some of the main operators. March capacity increased by 173,2% and load factor increased 15,8 percentage points up to 80,3%, which was the highest load factor among regions for the 18th consecutive month.
