What happened to the flights of the Colombian airline Great Colombia of Aviation? known as GCA Airlines began its flights in 2019, but it has stopped working.
Without media noise and without knowing the exact reasons, It's been several weeks since GCA Airlines suspended its domestic flights in Colombia, after starting flights 28 November 2019 flying between Cali and Cartagena as initial route.
The start of GCA Airlines
Gran Colombia de Aviación Airlines – GCA Airlines is a subsidiary of the Venezuelan airline Avior. GCA was founded in the 2017 and in August of that same year the beginning of the airline certification process was known, that two years later he would see his first regular flight take off.
Seeking to promote the Alfonso Bonilla Aragón airport in Valle del Cauca – Cali to complement the air offer and offer routes that were not being served by other competitors at that time, the airline had the projection to cover 9 domestic routes to Tumaco, handsome, Meal, Neiva, Barrancabermeja, Ibague, Cartagena, Puerto Asís and Florencia as the first phase of the airline.
But the plans did not end there, the airline wanted to go even further and cross the border to Miami, Guayaquil, Valencia and Lima were considered for the airline's international plan with an initial fleet of eight aircraft, 5 of which are of the Fokker type 50 and 3 Boeing 737-400.
What happened to GCA Airlines flights?
Although there has been no official communication so far after having suspended its operations, Colombian media have revealed information due to problems in their financial capacity, which prevents a correct operation and fulfillment of its responsibilities with suppliers and workers, where the latter would be unpaid several months ago, even before the cessation of operations.
In the image that accompanies this post, can see different planes Boeing 737 y Breeder 50 of the airline stationed for several weeks at the Alfonso Bonilla Aragón, photo I took days ago during a brief visit to this airport.
Will this airline take off again? We will have to wait to see its outcome.

GCA owes me a refund for an airline ticket for $750.000. What should I do?
I recommend you consult Aerocivil for advice or the equivalent of the Colombian consumer court.
In my case, I bought tickets in advance when the market opened in Colombia Three round trip tickets Cali-Cúcuta. Which due to the pandemic I could not use, later and after many inconveniences I was able to get a flight.
There they disappeared and until today's sun.
They owe me reimbursement from others around $1.000.000
Thank you for telling us about your case Ana.
I would think that because of the covid pandemic 19 the airline had financial problems, since they inaugurated the 29 November 2019 and so alone 3 months and a half later, The pandemic arrived and with it the restriction of flights, fewer passengers per flight, etc etc
It may be among the issues that affected the airline, but in general it went through low occupancy of its flights, for this reason they could never fly all the routes that were in their plans and those that they flew, quickly reduced or canceled.
My flight from Cali to San Andrés was canceled in January, I was traveling in February, and I requested the refund and they told me that they would do it but I had to sue before the superintendence of industry and commerce because in the super transport they do not manage the refund. To date they have not yet responded but with the demand in the SIC the claim is already in process.
Thanks for your input.
They stole my money 2 tickets from San Andres to Cali, they canceled the flight since January and until today they have not responded, nor with the right to petition before MinTansporte.
You must insist on the legal route. In Aerocivil they told you something about it?
Hello there, Ana. Do it with demand in the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce. In the aerocivil they send it to the supertransport but they do not manage the reimbursements, is the SIC.
